That's cool! Haha yeah my dad has been over there a few times already and he says the amount of bikes and the lack of cars is staggering. I will have to get an old one speed when we move there so I can get around! In the meantime I'm trying to research some cool clubs and the entire rave scene in Amsterdam, to see if there's anywhere that I could go that let's in 13 year olds. I also found a DJ school there that offers classes, and I'm stoked to go try that out! :W:

He is an arrogant dick head.

He once posted on his facebook about how white people were far more likely to be rapists than black people.

I hope he reads this and gets his pants in a bunch.

Hey Silkie (gayest name EVER by the way) FUCK YOU!!!
lol, have you ever met him and actually spoke to him though? why would anyone take what anyone says on the internet seriously?
Yes, and all he did was slag off one of my friends and act like he was the biggest badman around.

And saying "why would anyone take what someone says on the internet seriously" is quite simply the most retarded thing I have ever heard in my entire life. Fair enough if people want to mess around and have a laugh, I enjoy that as much as the next man, but making racist comments is unacceptable, be it IRL, on the internet or wherever.

Im suprised that you would say that actually Widowmaker, your posts are normally a tad more well thought out than that.
Yeah well man to be honest first time I met silkie I didn't even no it was him and I was mixing at the time and he come near the booth with my mate and shook my hand for no reason. Then we chatted for a while about tunes and shit. Like you may have had a bad experience or whatever but you forget these people are humans as well and can have shit days. And be pissed off. Or just not in the mood.

you can take DJ classes at Nowhere in Amsterdam-East or at Studio West in West, try Nowhere.nl or Studiowest.nl :p
they might let you in at the Melkweg, there's a lot of events without an age limit

Hey that's great! I like producing more though, do you know if any production schools/classes on production in Amsterdam? I use logic if that helps. Also, I'm a complete beginner to DJing would they still teach me?

Dude you're 13?

Chill out and just keep having fun with it.

You start with classes and it's going to turn it into something else.

Also, stay away from the weed for at least a few years, you start too early and you'll be an empty shell by the time you are old enough to play in the clubs

a) a lot of my friends are big into the weed, I actually have never done it and I just don't get the huge amount of hype surrounding it, it's not such a huge deal
b) I am having loads of fun, but tbh I really don't know shit about production compared to a lot of the heads on here, and I'm always looking for ways to get better. The Internet is great, but person to person classes would be a million times better

I started writing about ten years ago. Just keep writing. Most people think you have to some magic ability from birth to write good tunes, but imo its all about desire to create music. If you love the work than it will come together in time , but who cares because you love the work anyway.. As far as weed its not for everybody but its been a good thing for me. No further though, weed before booze and nothing more. Uppers and opiates and pills will more than likely ruin your life. E, psychs, and such are def hands off till you have devolped though. Drugs are bad ummkay. I have never let anyone hear a single note though. 860 tracks and counting , not all finished though lol. Best of luck, write to be the best, not to get paid. Geez i sound old . Watch the ira glass on storytelling vids on youtube. I think its part three. Oh and its all about the sounds. Be very very picky about your sounds

Haha I'm also doing this from iPhone, I feel ya. And yeah a lot of producers use weed as a medium, so definitely something interesting worth trying....

Im stepping off the old guy soapbox now lol.

Hey man dont sweat it I really appreciate it. I do two really exhausting/lung dependent sports (rowing and cross country running) really competitively, so Im going to stay away from anything that throws smoke into my body for the next few years at least...that's the main reason ive stayed away from em thus far

That's good, it's funny, I'm 16, and I know some kids that have been smoking weed since they were your age, and let's just say they have practically turned into lost causes. No inspiration to do anything. I mean weed can be nice, but wait till your a little bit older, and use it in moderation. Also big ups man, I wish i listened to dubstep when i was your age. Back then i listened to shitty emocore. Keep working on your production and hell you could be the next Skream.

Yeah but Skream dropped out of school when he was 14, so I only have a year to get on that :)

My parents would never stand for that....

If I may interject, this thread should've ended with wub's post, just bust your ass making the sickest tunes you can possibly make, and then after that make the tunes even better. The coolest part of music production in the fact that you can work on a piece of music indefinitely. Keep working on the same track until it's good enough to drop in a club with loads of people dancing. Girl Unit's Wut was the second tune he ever made, and I bet he spent hours hours and hours on making that tune the amazing anthem that it is.

ps, start smoking Ganja, it's good for you.

I truly appreciate the advice Soiree, but please no hate for this thread :)
Just discussing strategies for getting your tunes noticed. Obviously the número uno rule is make good tracks.

And wow...was Wut really Girl Unit's second track? How long had he been producing before that?

Also, about the entire pot/weed/ganja/grass/spliff/Mary Jane/insert word here and it will probably mean marijuana topic, I'd just as much hold off for a bit, not sp much because of the mental disadvantages it causes over time, but rather because of the fact that it'll kill my lungs, but I'll only be doing these sports at this level for the next year or two anyways, so I'll be able to, just not immediately.
