It's really not that good/scary. Maybe back in the day, but by today's standards...meh.

Thank you! Cannibal Ferox is even worse. It's funny, it seems like fans of Cannibal Holocaust just wont accept that it's just an exploitation flick, they seem to hold it up there like some fine art masterpiece.
thats cause it is a fine art masterpiece :u: ...Cannibal Ferox is terrible but i still enjoy its cheesyness. Cannibal Holocaust created that entire "found footage" genre. it Might not be scary by todays standards but they're certainly a lot of people who still get grossed out or offended by it.

And? Birthplace of a genre or not, I still don't think it's all that.

How can you call it an art masterpiece? It spends so much time trying to be obscene it forgoes everything else. It's a pretty pointless genre as it is. With a film like Irreversible, despite some uncomfortable viewing, it has a very powerful message to it and asthetically the film is well shot. That could be described as an art masterpiece.

Being the movie that created this found footage nonsense only makes me hate it more to be honest.

That's what I'm saying, I thought the message wasn't particularly well delivered and got lost in it all. Also, the ending seems slightly contradictory to the attempted message to me but whatever.

A.R.Rahman is India's Ennio Morricone. His music and the sound mixing were the best things about Slumdog Millionaire (and the only deserved Oscars).

Dil Se's got some great songs, but this one's the best. Chaiya Chaiya was also used in Inside Man, with a Panjabi MC remix over the final credits. If you only ever watch one Indian song/film clip make it this one :) The film's great but em...yeah, very stylized.

The film industry over there is huge and he churns songs out to order so plenty are shit, but the good stuff is pure gold. 'Bombay' from the mid 90s has a great soundtrack, and it's also a decent film :D .

yess, dun knoe about the rahman! Love chaiya chaiya and its railway train beat. The mans a revolutionary, keeps bringing something new to the table while keeping that authentic indian vibe

on a different note, the soundtrack to Bangkok Dangerous (Nic Cage one) is surprisingly good :W:

Something can be both trashy and a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. It can be a masterpiece of exploitation and for that measure up to other films that are considered great

The Deer Hunter.
Used to think the film was properly amazing, but I watched it again recently and it was good but not properly amazing. The theme tune still makes me emotional though...sums up the vibe of the film itself unlike any other soundtrack I've heard apart from maybe Blade Runner or something :crybaby:
