Re: Artificial Intelligence that makes dubstep
wow this is all very interesting. i've tried a bit of this before in python but didn't get very far, although i was doing synthesis mostly rather than arranging (which is a lot more fun in pure data/max msp).
if you are planning on trying sound synthesis, have a look at synth secrets. for example, here's an article on how to synthesise a kick drum. programming something that sounds a bit like an 808 probably wouldn't be too hard (but you'd probably never get anything that sounds as good as pre-selected samples).
also, getting it all into live by automating the mouse seems pretty ridiculous... couldn't you get your program to write midi files and then import them? maybe you could even write ableton save files directly since they seem to be written in xml?

to shreds, you say...
Re: Artificial Intelligence that makes dubstep
Yes moving the mouse around does seem ridiculous. I did not know that the save files were made in xml, this will make my life 10000000% easier once I'm at that step! Thanks for the links and the tips! I will definitely credit you in the last step!6000 wrote:wow this is all very interesting. i've tried a bit of this before in python but didn't get very far, although i was doing synthesis mostly rather than arranging (which is a lot more fun in pure data/max msp).
