God, I love that grainy reesey sound so much but I can't seem to get anywhere close to it.
Culprate uses it too
Edit: I've been doing a lot of reese work lately, made this in the past 15 mins after listening to that KOAN track, obviously not syncopated and chopped amazingly but yeah, if you want any tips I'll be glad to share:

I did what mrthfnk told me to do, haha.
I made a reese bassline (like the one you posted) and then cut it up like so:
http://puu.sh/1hgHs
The reese is pretty simple, its just this:

http://puu.sh/1hgKB
Just be sure to resynthesize it with something like harmor (I think you can buy Harmor for other non-FL DAWs)
I also sidechained the bounced reeses to the KOAN snare to help them "close" when the snare hits.
'ave a listen

Wasn't made in Massive, although my other one (called "forthelulz") was. Both aren't raw patches, have been resampled and have fx. Like I mentioned on the previous page the starting sound sometimes doesn't really make much difference as long as it has a lot of frequencies. As a start in Massive, try a deep throat on bend +/- with 2 saws. Set the saws to -12, and detune one by maybe -0.15. Lower the intensity of each to 70%ish. Now play with the dial for the Deep Throat wavetable till it sounds cool. Add sineshaper, add stereo in the voicing tab and maybe some tube dist. Now resample and effect. Boom.PatrickReza wrote:oooh i'd love to mess about with it. could you pm me the ksd or nmsv? It would be MUCHMUCHMUCH APPRECIATED.mthrfnk wrote:SoundcloudPatrickReza wrote:Soundcloud
Can anyone help me make this sexy reese?
Sounds like saws detuned with comb filter and a little phaser and flanger, but I wanna know how to get that nice crunch in the top end.
Maybe exciter filter?
Sounds like its just basic massive and camelphat but It's hard for me to make it right on point.
Help would be much appreciated."]
I tried making a crisp reese, anything you like about it?

Re: How To Make This Sound - October 2012
sorry for making you search through a mix but the sub/bass in this tune is very unique and i would love it if anyone could tell me how to make it...
It doesn't sound like just a straight sine or saw, i think it might just be the automation on the volume but there's something about it...
the tune is at 14:45 in this mix, i haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

Also you can thank me for introducing you to one of the best tunes in the world
Also also i may regret showing you this tune because my latest effort is pretty much trying to copy it :O

Sounds like a really low passed reese. Try making a rough reese, layer it with a sub an octave down and then saturate + lowpass or maybe shelve it.JockMCPlop wrote:sorry for making you search through a mix but the sub/bass in this tune is very unique and i would love it if anyone could tell me how to make it...

You mean the whole song or one sound?
Re: How To Make This Sound - October 2012
It's the hole song, but the sound I seek is the one that is continuous in the songmthrfnk wrote:You mean the whole song or one sound?

Sorry man, wasn't adressing anyone in person. Just getting tiresome with everyone ranting about sampling as soon as zomboy is mentioned even though the sound doesn't even sound like any other sound, there's so much misinformation. I even heard someone saying he sampled the growls in Nuclear from skrillex even though they're not even remotely similiar in any way. Not saying you're responsible or anything, sorry if I came off as a dick mateCoolschmid wrote:Way to read what I wrote in contextMaxxan wrote:Oh fuck off, he didn't sample the lead in nuclear, anyone could hear that. it might have been me that said that, in nuclear zomboy samples a bass (not a growl, the sound is like an aggressive wub) from skrillex - kyoto. listen to both songs and you will know what im refering to. im 99% sure about this, i dont believe he sampled anything else but that 1 sound on his new EP.. however he did sample skrillex A LOT before when he was a newcomer.Maxxan wrote:I even heard someone saying he sampled the growls in Nuclear from skrillex even though they're not even remotely similiar in any way.

If it's the sound I'm thinking of, Im pretty sure he just made it in massive as it's not a hard sound to makesunny_b_uk wrote:it might have been me that said that, in nuclear zomboy samples a bass (not a growl, the sound is like an aggressive wub) from skrillex - kyoto. listen to both songs and you will know what im refering to. im 99% sure about this.Maxxan wrote:I even heard someone saying he sampled the growls in Nuclear from skrillex even though they're not even remotely similiar in any way.

Does anyone know how to achieve the metal robotic sound, I have my own robot bass but it doesnt sound right without the effects they use, if anyone can help I am using ableton live. thankyou

Re: Rekoil/Datsik Metal effect
good choice in reverbs, detuning, granulization/re sampling.
