look what he said about dubstep "as dance music"
“I couldn't argue an aesthetic case for 90% of Funky House, but even that faintly crap 90% … is about, ooh, lets say 1000 times more interesting than most Dubstep just by merit of having a pulse, by aiming to be entertaining… you can't imagine people losing control or getting sweaty”
what a dirty pile of tommyrot

It's his opinion though isn't it, most of the people I know that aren't dubstep heads think the same (but substitute funky house for breakcore, acid techno, dnb, etc). A lot of dubstep doesn't set out to be entertaining anyway (or maybe people just get their kicks in different ways).
Simon Reynolds actually gave the Burial album a pretty good review as I remember and I think the reasoning behind his comments are pretty good - I can see how if you were a garage head you
might be disappointed in dubstep's progress.
People get way too precious about this shit
Good to read Dubmugga too - in hindsight can't really see why people rose to that, master of parody

Hmm....

From The K-Punk article on teh Grime compilation Alex Bok Bok linked back on page one:
The album is the soundtrack for a British film that will never be made but ought to be, a UK-punk version of Blade Runner or Total Recall, a world of vizored menace, adrenal urgency and android passion.
Pretty funny that it pretty much did get made with Children of Men.
Blackdown's responce to Woebot's Funky House post is pretty jokes. The DMZ002 on Ebay thing is too much.
And on another note, Christ am I glad Dubmugga stopped posting here. Shonky, you got the rose tinted glasses on mate. Dubmugga in this thread was hardly at his worst.

what maddens me about woebot is his tone. he seems to present himself as the truth, he gives no indication that he views his thoughts or tastes as in any way fallable. which fucks me off. its not 'ive been enjoying funky much more than dubstep', its 'funky house is superior to dubstep' (failing to mention all the assumptions necessary to make that a justified statement). even if he doesnt feel that way in reality,
for me its a failing as a writer
thats why gutterbreakz is still the one for me... personal, passionate, unrestrained by the compulsion to present a theory as to why something is justifiable or whatever. he loves what he loves and tells you why, and you can take it or leave it. he communicates his subjectivity without it seeming forced or cumbersome - everything he writes is infused with humility

Gutta is THE DON as far as music in general goes, and dubstep inparticular, I think his 1st person approach enables him to transcend the limitations of the "objective" critic, he actually tells you how music makes him feel, rather just what he thinks about it.
lol didnt spot this, thats more or less what im saying
and silverdollar is ridiculous, im so sad that he stopped
