I'm going on a trip for uni on the 16th march, I've got the choice between Rotterdam or Amsterdam, looking at eco-towns. Where should I go? still haven't decided..

This is currently the best place to buy green in the Dam: http://www.greyarea.nl/

It's where all the Dutch locals go so you know it is legit

Do they really want it turning into another tourist shit spot though?

Think about it.. How do you lot feel when kiddies wind up at dubstep events.

Amsterdam is hugely touristy already, in the center its pretty much only tourists or people making money from tourists.

havent been to grey area, heard the weed is good tho (not that i it smoke anymore), very expensive as are most coffeshops in the centre. Get to jordaan, de pijp or even oost if you want cheaper deals and less tourists. My local is the warda on javastraat, bit of a way out (not too far from the zoo tho) and not that great to sit in (there is a pool table) but zero donker and zero licht are probably the nicest hashes ive had here, 8 euros for a gram 35 for 5, cant argue with that. Trouw is probably the best club and it 8 euros if you go before 12 now, they also just got a 24 hour license

Never been to Amsterdam before, but may well be hitting it up for a few days at the end of the month between gigs.
Can anyone give me the low down on the best places for cheap weed and cheap accommodation?

Yeah but amsterdam is waaay smaller than all of those cities and the centre takes up more space in comparison to the rest of it.
In my experience there are more tourists in amsterdam for how small it is compared to the other cities in that list that Ive been to.
and even if those cities were just as touristy what difference would it make to my point?

The grey area is pretty central so no doubt there are plenty of tourists there already.
Not that I have a huge problem with tourists just saying how it is.

Also there's people from Amsterdam in the centre, as they live there.

alright then, tourists and very rich dutch people : )

I was exagerating but I do think the tourism is more concentrated in Amsterdam than say London or Berlin because they are far larger.

I work at a travel agents so there was a special discount being given out. 3 nights is still £250 but between 2 of us it isn't too bad and we wanted to spoil ourselves. Won't be drinking in the bar though, shit looks priiicey

For decent nights I'm keeping an eye on Melkweg, Trouw, Paradiso, Club AIR, Studio 80, OT301 - any decent ones I'm missing?

Nah that's a good list. Maybe Westerunie / Westergasfabriek. Although there's also a lot of good nights at venues that aren't clubs.
Theaters, film studios, boats etc..
