Yeah personally I can't figure out who would qualify as the greatest.
I can say who my favorites are but that doesn't really mean I think they're the best

I recall seeing one of the ugk dudes saying in an interview that the chopped n screwed remix of a song with whitney houston ft wyclef sold a million copis just out of a trunk.thats how the south rolls. selling out the boot of the car, in liqour stores, local shops & gas stations.

Everybody always has a different opinion
that doesn't mean we can't agree on a select few having done more/better stuff than others

those guys in the south are literally self made. they put in WORK. like real work. all their own production, mastering, promo, concerts and distro. its rather impressive.hubb wrote:I recall seeing one of the ugk dudes saying in an interview that the chopped n screwed remix of a song with whitney houston ft wyclef sold a million copis just out of a trunk.thats how the south rolls. selling out the boot of the car, in liqour stores, local shops & gas stations.

Master P was an early pioneer of guerrilla marketing. He used to give his albums out for free to the people in the neighbourhood with the loudest car stereos.Nevalo wrote:those guys in the south are literally self made. they put in WORK. like real work. all their own production, mastering, promo, concerts and distro. its rather impressive.hubb wrote:I recall seeing one of the ugk dudes saying in an interview that the chopped n screwed remix of a song with whitney houston ft wyclef sold a million copis just out of a trunk.thats how the south rolls. selling out the boot of the car, in liqour stores, local shops & gas stations.

I met colonel sanders wife in the state of Kentucky
Said I'll fry some chicken if you'd just fuck me
I came in her mouth, it was a crisis
I gave her my secret blend of herbs and spices
I met this lady from Japan
Never made love with an African
I fucked her once, fucked her twice
I ate that pussy like shrimp-fried rice

I think it was a B.G. tune Bling Bling, nothing to be celebrated though. Juvenile's 'Ha' though, that was a tune.

yeah it could be argued that it's like folk music down there, which is cool.

I want to throw Eyedea's name into the mix even though I will probably get savaged
I know this track is kinda out of kilt with the rest of the tunes in this thread but still, there's not many songs I have EVER heard that come close to being as articulate as this one, the lines about feeling like his brain is hanging on by a clothes pin, about how education hasn't given the vital skills needed for inner growth and how he feels betrayed by the system, it's actually pretty amazing;
This is also next level stuff
Others that I want to throw in that haven't been mentioned
Gift of Gab (Have people here not actually listened to NIA and Blazing Arrow? wtf?)
RA the Rugged Man (best multi spitter in the world and probably of all time, no fucking question, I challenge anybody to show me someone who can relentlessly multi the way this guy can)
Charlie 2na (swag)
Kweli (cus Reflection Eternal)
