Come again? Where?

Hyperdub sure is on a very 'bleepy' tip of late. I think I might be the odd one out here, but I'm not really sure I'm into it. However, I do love all of the beats on 'Please' - the switch-ups in the second half of the tune are cool.

Congrats on your first release Ikonika!

it's got the added 'wonk' factor, wonk is the new wobble
Not wonk - CLONK. It REALLY reminds me of Sweet Exorcist's Clonk's Coming EP (CCEP) which is no bad thing as it's one of my favourite techno records of all time!

Great release, big up Kode 9 and Hyperdub once again.

I lol'd with this :D ... although if there's a tune that fit that description it's Ikonika's for sure.

Big up on the release! well deserved, Please is a timeless tune, classic for me since the first time I heard it.
Gotta say I was hoping for Phonelines on the flip tho :P

YES!! February is going to be insane for hyperdub releases, this on the 2nd (i think, shit it's the 4th) and Feral Witchchild / Stairwell on the 11th.

Nice to hear someone like Ikonika getting a release, it's kinda a logical move for hyperdub, exactly their sound. Hyperdub and DMZ are my main hopes for dubstep in 2008.

And big up yourself Ikonika, "Please" is a work of genius!

I quote:

'What the label says:

Hyperdub kick off 2008 they way they intend to proceed, with new tracks from a new artist. On her debut release, Ikonika comes with her own very unique, warped yet soulful bleep sound. With shape shifting beats that switch styles every few bars it’s hard to pin these two tracks down… cos if it was easy, it just wouldn’t be Hyperdub. Both tunes are one minute minimal, one minute maximal, driven along by Ikonika’s special combination of wonky synth and deep swingin’ sub bass melodies that place them somewhere between an early, blocky grime instrumental and the sweeter side of Detroit techno – except with better bass of course! Who needs a vocalist when your synth can sing like this? Quite how Kode9 manages to keep unveiling new producers of such abundant talent is a conundrum, but one to be cracked some other time when we’re not so busy keeping up with his astonishing label’s ceaseless march into the future.'

Not bad eh.
very good. but it does sounds to me like hyperdub has got someone new writing their press infos.

there is no one new writing the press release. but as they go out to shops they tend to get mutated by cheese that is beyond our control.

That'd be really nice! I've seen Pavan live last year and the guy killed it, the Flogsta Danshall label has some amazing music
