well, so I've just wasted 10 minutes reading thru the 2nd half of that locked thread. I must say that I think several people need to calm down a bit and quit this online oneupmanship - it's a waste of time for all concerned.

I completely echo Seckle's sentiment here:
seckle wrote:you have to realize that the forum isn't a blog and people have a right to say that something's crazy when they think it's crazy. just because you're involved in a thread doesn't mean that everyone in the thread has to discuss matters in a vein that's appropriate to you. if you can't discuss things without resorting to threatening people, then don't get involved in the thread at all. it's not that difficult.
not as a fellow Mod, but as a longtime forum user both here and elsewhere. If you can't stop yourself from losing your rag, step away from the keyboard. If you haven't got enough of a sense of humour to put up with someone taking the piss then don't expose yourself to it in the first place.

This forum is simply a place for those who share a common interest (dubstep, remember?) to talk shit that isn't necessarily music-related, and it would be a shame to see it become a place for petty name-calling and e-posturing, cos Dubway will prob just get rid of it and keep the forum to pure dubstep. :?

As for those that complain about the way this place is moderated, if it wasn't for Dubway, Seckle, and the Mods (myself included :6:) this forum wouldn't exist. It's all done for the love in people's spare time, and an enormous collective effort goes on to keep it running. If you don't like it, then you're under no compulsion whatsoever to keep posting/reading.

It's never good to lose people in the forum over things like this but it happens and i can see why parson might not want to spend time in here anymore.

take it easy mate, you were always a good read.

I don't get it...Parson was rude from the outset and aggressive to many, particularly to Seckle and Stanton, and yet people are saying they don't see what he did wrong. He may have been smart and entertaining in the past, but seriously, he was way too defensive in this thread.

Just out of interest Parson (and this is a serious question), are you that removed from open-mindedness and the general consensus, that you can't see that your beliefs might draw a little well intentioned jokery, that your aggressive reactions might just get in the way of proper discussion once the jokes were done?

Not arguing with you XOR, but what you say allows me to make this point:

I think if the views of say Muslims or Rastafarians were described as

"nonsense for idiots with the minds of curious ADHD children
ooor
fun fictional mysticism that injects excitment into the lives of chronic masturbators"

there would be outrage and the poster would at least be reprimanded. What do you think? Or do you think someone's beliefs can be so marginal as to make it permissible to dismiss them in those terms, or to call them a 'fucking mentalist'?

stanton, crunkhouse, rekorder and parson have all had dealings like that in the past though. it wasn't anything new and didn't just come out of pocket.
