Why do producers take so long?

I can't imagine why this thread is possibly so long.

Crux of matter:

- Most producers don't release their own tunes.
- Labels only pick up the tunes they want to put out.
- Mastering, promotion and cutting to vinyl takes time (sometimes a long -time, if things get messy)

Thats pretty much the size of it.
