Yup. It was interesting to note that when the educational reforms proposed the other year were rejected, they'd been approved by parent groups, educational specialists, teaching unions and by many mps. The veto came because the CBI rejected it, who basically represent business interests.

It would be nice if education was seen as a good thing in itself rather than just another cog in creating the workforce of the future.
Hmm....

education.. primary school, secondary school, university.. imo

1 to keep you of the streets
2 learn social skills in a formal environment
3 so you can add to the economy *the point i was making*

remember a quotation a learnt in history was "a little bit of learning is a dangerous thing" and i think this is quite relevant. you teach people more than the bare minimum to get by in society and be a diligent worker and people start thinking too much, realise how bad society is and want to change things. this is what happened in russia when the tsars started making education reforms and this is to a large extent what resulted in getting bolshevism in power. which is the exact sort of thing most governments obviously don't want. keep the people like drones and they'll act like drones, which is great for the economy, but not for people themselves

Much more. Also with the soon come depletion of oil reserves and the subsequent knock-on effect of that, let alone the impending recession, to just assume that market forces are going to save the day is utterly retarded. Decisions made for the benefit of the few are going to create a disastrous chain-reaction for the majority.

cocaine does seem to be a very female drug. possibly largely due to the fact that so many women seem to have self-confidence issues, but maybe i'm talking shit

Been with a few guys that have VERY low self esteem, I think u guys hide it better.
