look, none of this is ideal. none of it. the whole system is a fucking trainwreck. but right now it's sink or swim. i am making my choices based on how i think we can at least begin to tread water again...simple as that.
To think Bush is a Moron is flawed. He might be sneaky, cocky, evil, but dumb he is not. Yeah, we can laugh at him while he laughs all the way to the bank with our money. If he wasn't born into the Bush family I think he would have either been a coke dealer or a car dealer.....which are kinda the same thing.....

I'm not as concerned with Obama as I'm concerned with the staff he would choose (as they would make the policies he would sign or present to congress). Lesser of Two evils....no. All the same evil to me, but to hide in a cave would be signaling defeat. I voted libertarian in the last election, but I think I'll abstain from voted this time around.

Parson, you have it right. Vote for TRUE ANCIENT EVIL.

His agenda is clear......all for the elder gods or destruction for us all. Who can't agree with that?

let me qualify what i mean by dumb. he is sneaky smart, but logically and critically dumb. he knows how to manipulate and obfuscate, but only by using the simplest tools. but if i challenged him to a game of chess, even i could beat him (and i suck at chess).

perhaps vacuous would be a better choice of words.

but i totally agree with your second point. who bush surrounded himself with has EVERYTHING to do with what has happened. so i agree that it is an area of concern no matter who is in the office, who they choose to put in cabinet positions. but again, my point is that when obama's campaigns are not based on special interest money, that means there are less strings that can be pulled and hopefully less cronyism. i won't bet the bank on less cronyism, mind you, but logically it does mean there is less chance there than with someone who is sucking the oil industry's cock.

ok well, i am kinda past the "seeds" part and well aware of various theories, concepts and lines of thinking, so let's have some MEAT in this discussion. ham is acceptable, but elaboration on the theme is preferred. ;)

how 'bout we assume that anyone interested enough to click on this topic probably has a brain, so we take it from there? no reason to be coy...it's a discussion, right?

i'm not being coy. every point i've been making requires a whole shitload of meat. if i am assuming people are intelligent, then they will be able to put the pieces together on their own.

blackwater is really really really really really fucked up and way too powerful and i am terrified of what it means for all of us...that's one thing that really scares me to the core.

and yes, the election process is bread and circus, designed specifically for distraction and show.

but my question to all of those positing their various theories about who is really in charge (whether it's a discussion about corporate power or the bilderberg group): what do we do? we can talk all day long, and theorize and discuss the various intricate bits, but rarely do i see anything remotely solution-oriented? and let me say i DO think discussion is necessary and relevant, but still...we either begin to make some strides toward strategies of dealing with it, or at some point, it just becomes a whole lotta nothing.

one thing we can do is stop jumping through hoops and wasting all our energy pontificating about their gameshow.

I agree. You make some some interesting points Parson, but sometimes it would be good to have slightly more than soundbites, for those of us that aren't in the US and aren't sure of the references, it doesn't help with understanding of your POV.
Hmm....

Machiavelli's quote "Mercenaries and auxiliaries are useless and dangerous; and if one holds his state based on these arms, he will stand neither firm nor safe; for they are disunited, ambitious and without discipline, unfaithful, valiant before friends, cowardly before enemies; they have neither the fear of God nor fidelity to men, and destruction is deferred only so long as the attack is; for in peace one is robbed by them, and in war by the enemy."

You're only until a higher bidder comes along. We will all pay the ultimate price. Seems to me that forming our own communities and protecting our own interests from the private sector would be in our best interest. Instead of putting energy and effort into a party, time for self preservation. I have a few friends that are already preparing for the "rogue government take over." An ex-Marine friend of mine is stock piling and securing a place to hide out in case of marshal law and widespread government lock down on the general populous. He trusts this government with nothing, he did and saw a lot of horrible stuff when he served the Marines (gulf war 2 vet) and knows that this is just a preparation for not another war abroad but the war inside this country.
