Hi Dubnerd, this seems to be the only scene in which people try to be real and keep doing & love doing what they're doing. Talk about fair share, ya no, cause if everybody does his best, there' s room 4 it... ;)

a romantic idea but from a labels point of view trying to build momentum for a release aint simple. when everything is so easily available, "to be released" material gets quickly lost in the haze of dozen "hot new plates" doing the rounds in the "net community"........... thus ...... dubplate culture

I don't get what you're saying here. If you're saying dubstep dubplates get leaked before their release, I've actually never seen that happen. The only ones that get leaked are CD albums because they're usually sent to a lot of people.

Sio2 is not the only person doing dubstep in New Orleans or Louisiana. I know just about every DJ in the state, and I don’t know any who download illegally. If there are, it's a small few.

As for the Serato thing... If you have nothing to worry about then it doesnt matter what i say about Serato. Its just that Serato makes it really easy for these Djs to come in do what they do. To put out a fire you have to goto the base of the fire, where the fire starts. Serato is like the air & fuel. the heat comes from the Dj. Put Air, fuel and heat together and you get fire.

It just seems like Serato is just enabling these Djs. You sometimes gotta deal with the enabler to deal with the problem right ?
hahaha, 'serato is like the air and fuel'? wtf kind of drugs are you on? and what are you going to do, firebomb serato hq? ban digital media use in clubs? bring on the great serato prohibition in order to stop djs from playing unpaid-for tunes? your argumentation is completely immature. you can't stop technological progress, and you can't stop filesharing... technology in general enables it, but technology is progress, and again... there's NOTHING you can do about that. what you can do to stop other djs from getting booked more than you is to simply PLAY A BETTER SET!

Add a trademark to your song, or add a loud hiss or skip, like Caspa does on his myspace.

I've noticed that dubstep has a semi-esoteric scene (at least here in America) that really frowns upon illegal downloads, but I don't know how that is in the techno or house circuits (just to use examples). Here's an example of a mix w/ illegal tracks that got posted in our mixes forum. :x
Went on Lemon78s youtube profile, hes got a video of the new Sukh Knight - Junglist on there, how the hell he get that tune when its not out yet!!!
Also, he's got Rusko - Period

thats joke right, here in Bulgaria we have scene that gets "free" mp3's from Soulseek and play it @ festivals and clubs with cd-j 100. Only way is to brainwash them thru the music and make them buy some from the artists but in the same time there is really a lot of nice music let free on the internet by the artists for who like to listen or play it. So what is Legal then :P The only people i see getting money from free music is the net providers  that is not "free" better buy some mp3's from the artists, then pay for the company that provides u the net

I'm a strictly vinyl DJ. love the black stuff.

but playin at a night as a favour for a friend and there only gonna be CD decks there so im going to rip my vinyls to WAV and put them on CD.. I would rather use my vinyl but it would be a big hassle to take my decks down..

Give me a break. Do i read like i'm gonna firebomb something ? I want honesty is all. I refuse to share the same stage as some Mp3 thief. I've worked to hard for too long to let that happen. PERIOD

Playing a better set dont always help. I am an as*hole and I am rude so i dont get booked as much. My sets are filled with the absolute best music available and I mix circles around the MP3 stealing crowd i was refering to. Also, I dont go around kissing the arse of every promoter in town, so I dont get booked as much. *shrug* playing a better set dont always get you booked more. So your argument falls flat.

Also, I dont do drugs. Im an herbalist (jah protects) because the rest of the SH*T will kill you. Maybe you just dont understand what a metaphore is. Maybe you are the one on drugs or medication right ? I am not trying to stop tech progress, just trying to get people to be honest and have higher standards.

I was saying that most of the peeps that bring mp3s into the club and dj are the ones that are suspect. They dont post tracklistings or mixes so you dont know anything about the music they play. Get it ? Serato is the great tool for these "djs" that bring the illegal crap into the club.

If you do the right thing, who cares what is said about using mp3s ? It seems the ones who dont like what I say are generally the guilty ones anyway. I'm not against Serato. This is about the use of stolen music in the club.

Im going to stop talking about Serato. .'was just saying Serato is what these "djs" use to bring thier stolen music into the club.

*laff Robotic is a fitting name for you too. What you've said I have heard from alot of other robots. How about coming up with something original to tell me. You think I dont know what i am talking about ? I've been Djing over 20 years.

i reckon almost everyone who comes up with these "ban people what use illegal mp3s" threads have illegally downloaded mp3's on their computer.. now there's a thought. people in glasshouses getting a pre emptive strike on it seems..

personally, for me it's not about having illegal mp3's on your computer. it's about having them on your computer, then taking'em 2 the club and dj with'em, get probs for it and get paid for stealing...lol.

peace.

ha, the immaturity continues... now ur trying to insult me! on top of that you insist on contradicting yourself (u want to get booked more but 'refuse to share the stage with mp3 thieves'; u aren't against serato, but u want to 'deal with the enabler of the problem';etc.). you seem to neither want to understand simple sarcasm (for you: i don't do drugs either and i do NOT condone firebombing!) nor the brutal truth of event politics (a promoter doesn't want to book an asshole unless OTHER PEOPLE in preferably great numbers think that his/her sets 'are filled with the absolute best music available...').

another point: sweeping generalizations are usually dangerously imprecise. should u nonetheless choose to assert them, then definitely expect a response from everyone you've targeted with your statements. and just because someone has a problem with your delivery doesn't automatically mean they're against your message. then again, i suppose that a whole world war is being waged on exactly that 'either-with-us-or-against-us' principle, so i guess you might do well in u.s. politics. ;)

All good. Your perspective is valuable . sarcasm is sometimes easily lost in digital places like this. i dont know everything and recognise sweeping generalizations arent fair. *shrug* It is always a risk to "speak out". But taking risks is what its about in this world.

Edit: it seems my bringing this issue to this forum was something i didnt have permission to do. *laff
