i get u sid. too much dub/reggae influence. i wish alot more dubstep sounded like the dub mixes of old garage records - which is blatantly where the term comes from

i think, to an extent, any "mixable" music is somewhat stifled

"I love that chilled tune with the flute, you kno that dubby thingy, Radio 1 played it after that Heaven is A Place on Earth trance tune"<- This is where we are headed if we aint careful (do you want that?)
Sounds pretty amusing to me to be honest, but I appreciate every scene needs its purists/fundamentalists so I dig where you're coming from. Nevertheless I think the point is that while there are always going to be idiots there are people who will get exposed to the music this way that will become fans of the best kind. Some people getting beany to "Dutch Flowers" is not a major concern.

Dubstep is serious. Dubstep is deep. But Dubstep is also fun. And Dubstep is accessible. Strap yourselves in, enjoy the ride!

Nope.

I dont wish it to sound anything. If I did, i'd be making beats myself.

(sorry - moving off topic) gonna second you there mate. need a bit more step in there. people see the term 'dubstep' and think it's all about dub reggae, which if you know your history, you know it ain't...

hmmm...I use to prefer the term sub-lo. but I like the fact 'dubstep' caught on. If it means people getting into reggae.

I like it that skank with the music, feels good, and the little floaty bits.

The more people start 'defining' dubstep, the quicker its gonna die. I think DnB suffered from people thinking it was all about the bpm and getting less creative, letting go of outside influences.

Just make music innit, if it fits into 'dubstep' so be it.

Old style 2 step tunes crossing over with dubstep sonics is heavy, tho back in the day I fucking hated about 70% of ukg.

So this guy is a "Classical Musician/Composer" in your definition because he's from the classical tradition of studying music and writing for orchestras ;)
(also the Japanese Noise scene is run by groups like the Boredoms)

sorry for going off topic peeps ;)[/quote]
