Yeah, I rank Season 2 last as well, but mostly b/c the it was the least eventful in terms of plot movement. I kinda dug the whole angle w/ the docks, since it showed so many different angles on the drug trade, and that it runs bigger than even the people that run the streets. It kinda gave a perspective on how even "kings" like Avon/Stringer and Prop Joe are subordinate to the Greeks. Season 2 was also the beginning of the political direction the show began to take through the remaining seasons. There is a much larger commentary there about the decline of labor unions, the local affects of globalization, and how the power of the working class has become subjugated for the benefit of politicians and capitalism. That the setting for all this was the Locust Point area of South Baltimore is *deeply* appropriate, since that this more or less the story of that area for the last 10 years.
So true. It's amazing how 10 years ago, no one wanted any parts of Locust Point. A house was CHEAP. real cheap. Now -- i can't even think of getting a place down there. Brilliant stuff RR. This is so true....all the way around.

I'm ready for season 5. Seriously.....we might need our own section on this forum -- just for the TV show, unless we want a 34 page thread by the time the show comes around.

True story -- from the JoeNice ar-chives. Dateline -- last night.

I'm at a local establishment -- chillin cold. I look to my left and Kima is hanging out with two of her "people". I was stunned. She's even prettier in person than she is on TV.

She walked by, i said, "You know i'm waiting for season 5 right?"
Her reply, "I know baby...it's coming. JANUARY....yeah !"

A brilliant article on THE WIRE in this week's New Yorker magazine.

Check THIS LINK.

Thanks to Mr. Q for the linkage.

Someone told me that she's rather prissy in person, a girly-girl, if you will...nothing like her character. That true?

This article is great. Who would have thought the Deacon was a real-life drug kingpin?! Last person I'd suspect.

This one takes the cake. Absolutely brilliant. I know in one of my previous posts i said, "there are certain things that happen in Baltimore that can only happen in baltimore." This clip is a perfect example.

The person being robbed said, "Do you mind if i keep my wallet? I won't want to have to wait in dem lines @ Mondawmin."

For the people from Baltimore (me, The Decoy, Ricky Ricardo) we know exactly what the man at the bus stop is talking about.

There's a DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) at Mondawmin Mall. Basically, if you need anything taken care of regarding your driving record (license renewal, photos, tag renewal) you go to the DMV. One problem, the Mondawmin Mall location is the only one in the city. And -- if you don't have transportation (like the guy waiting for the bus), it's a pain in the ass to go to Mondawmin's DMV. Essentially, you don't go to Mondawmin unless you have to....it's a last resort. Strangely enough, I took my driving test at Mondawmin. (yikes!) The lines are always long, people are unfriendly and no one that works there knows what they're doing. The last time i had my wallet stolen, i went to Mondawmin - thinking things would be different than in years past. Still the same. Infact, it might have gotten worse since they sell dirty water hot dogs and drinks that you can't take inside the building.

I just finished season 3 on dvd.

The ending to that series was cold-blooded! (in the best possible way...)

Seriously, someone in the uk needs to fix up and get this show on a proper channel that people actually watch, and get the dvds out sharpish.

Why it hasn't been shown on anything but a rubbish cabe channel that nobody has i just don't know. I thought the BBC had a special relationship with HBO? I would gladly pay 5 pounds more a year on my tv license just to have the Wire
