I gave up everything recently after becoming a virtual recluse (hence the post count on here) after a very bad acid trip, dropped out of school this year because of it.

I have constant anxiety and feel uncomfortable pretty much all the time, I don't mean to put a dampener on anyone's spirits but giving up the drugs is the easy bit, I didn't find that hard at all tbh. I did acid pretty much every weekend for a year and a half, as well as ket, mdma, speed, you name it.

The hard part is breaking the mental habit, you get locked into a cycle of anxiety and become negative etc. I'm getting better but it's a very gradual process, been almost a year now.

For all those that want to continue smoking weed etc (although i wouldn't advise this, just saying it) my mate was having panic attacks constantly due to substance abuse and he stayed clean for 6 months and now he does acid etc and he's fine, sheer willpower is the key as people have said here.

Out to all those kicking the habits

For me, smoking weed everyday just really drained all the motivation out of me. I litterally was going no where with my life. I'm not here to give an anti-drug speech but really if you think about it is smoking weed going to get you any further in life? is it going to help you reach your goals? i still enjoy the occasional J with a few buddies on a weekend or whatever but i'll never go back to smokin everyday. In the past year and a half I can count on my hand how many times i've smoked pot. for me thats a really big deal considering I went my whole teenage life smokin every day. It took me gettin in big fuckin trouble with the law to change my habbits. It's amazing how much better I feel now. Not only that but so many doors have been opened because I hang out with a different crowd.

I busted my ass in community college for a year and got my grades up, now I'm headed off to an awesome college out west, i've gained my parents trust, i've got a new appreciation for the things i used to love and have done many things i've always wanted to do, i've met really cool people, i've gotten to travel the country, and most importantly i feel like i have control in my life again. The rewards are so great if you get out of that stoner life style and experience the world! maybe this sounds cheesy but i'm telling you, you will be way better off with it! just my two cents. u got it bro!! just change your settings and be disciplined. aint easy but it gets a lot easier as the months go by.

I was fine until I went on a bad trip no signs of anything at all, then went on a really bad trip and triggered it, clearly it was underlying but only emerged when I went on a bad trip. Having said that, pretty much every time I did it my mate did too and he continues to do it and is still fine. Depends on the person.

would asking what happened on said trip be too probing? what happened on it?

im thinking of giving up (or at least cutting back a lot) on the smoking, i realised that i smoked whenever i run out of things to do, instead of going on to do something productive. plus it makes me spent far too long playing civ 4. and ive lost alot of coherency in my speech, bare ums ahs and mispronunciation.

Haha, i just felt really uncomfortable, anxious etc and it got more and more intense until i just went home, left my shoes in the middle of the street. I got home and lay in the shower for 3 hours staring at the ceiling in agony (I dunno why but I was in constant physical pain all over, like intense aching), then I lay in bed listening to Kid A. 9 hour ego deaths and extreme pain aren't too fun.

I can't really put into words how it felt other than saying that I can't put it into words . Even after the visuals stopped i felt shaky and on edge and couldn't speak properly. Ever since i still feel partly on the trip.

It's time for me to find a resin dealer. Cannot be doing with the head fucks involved these days.

The worst case is when I'm hungover (I can't usually sleep when I'm hungover) so I'll have a joint. That cringe worthy factor that is there after your night out, gets accelerated so quickly into almost suicide after a joint, I just find it not worth it. Past 2 years, I barely remember anything off, for what? Staying in? Playing computer games? Eating takeaways?

Phat rave meighty.

i find that the incoherency goes after just a couple of days after giving up. i have smoked weed pretty heavily for the past three years but i'm proper trying to kick the habit right now. i have given up in the past but never for more than a month or so before i go back to getting smashed every night. i don't know why i don't have the staying power to last longer than a month 'cause i always feel tonnes better when i'm not smoking.

i do think the best way to quit is just to delete dealers numbers from your phone. Smoking is just a form of procrastination, having something different to concentrate your efforts on is always a total bonus.

plus the girls don't really like the boys that smoke too much.
do it for the clunge.

To be honest man, a nice sized cut down is so much better than completely quitting. I haven't smoked for a couple months now, and just lat Friday had a couple puffs with a few lads when we were out. It's definitely something I grew tired of after a solid years smoking, but yeah, more or less moderation is key. With pot "less is more" applies really, the less you smoke the higher you're gonna get when you actually do end up blazing, so you've got the added benefit of spending less to snatch your buds.
Bless.

i like the way you have with words my friend, nice simple and very excelent. i norm smoke bout a Q a week. But i am now trying to cut down to a Q every 2weeks. i only have till this friday to go n i would have made a Q last 2weeks, as long as i stick to the 3 small slightly cut down blues slims a day. So i am pleased with myself. B4 i smoked so much i barely got high, but now after only a week odd of cutting down i get quite high from like a quarter of a spliff and have halfed the money i spend on weed big up every1 making the effort to cut down/ quit the weed

I hardly ever get the chance to smoke. So it doesn't take that much weed to get me high. If you keep it like a weekend thing, that should keep you fine.

Nearly a whole week!

I've been waking up feeling quite refreshed, which makes a nice change.

Skunk just stopped agreeing with me one day, on the rare occassions that I've smoked lately I've just gotten uneasy and ill.

Pretty easy to stop smoking when that happens.

damn, congrats.

bottomline in all cases from tobacco to booze to herb and beyond is that these substances are psychoactives and WILL affect your psyche and mood, sometimes whether or not your want them too, what you do control tho is When and Where you choose to take them, i.e. your position in life at the time - so you have to be mindful of the set and setting in which you operate and alter yr conscious, and be prepared for the consequences. Buy the ticket take the ride.
