This thread reminds me of why I like younger genres of electronic music in the first place - it might be ironic, but they are way more diverse. The fact that no one agrees who the uber producers are is a posative in my book.

As a side note, the PRODUCERS are the ones who let drum and bass slide toward the same sound and coagulated what once was a super diverse genre of music into the few variations of the same beat and distorted bassline that were deemed accceptable. Its up to you not to allow that to happen to dubstep.

That being said, Excision gets my vote right now for unique sound. That bass sound he is pushing is unique and instantly recognizable as his.

Mala without any doubt, didn't quite understand his tunes at first but the more you listen to them, the deeper they get.

Quest is easily my 2nd favourite
followed by:

Boxcutter
Burial
Peverelist
Pangaea
Martyn
Cluekid

and from what i've heard the stuff from Von D and Spatial seems quite special

Kode9 or Burial.

Memories Of The Future, Untrue and to s very slightly lesser extent Burial are pieces of musical importance that will be listened to in the future. Lots of electronic/dance music gets forgotten as soon as clubs stop playing it, especially albums... those will definitely stick.

Bar 9, Burial, Nero, Toasty are all up there in my eyes...

Having said that, when I think of Dubstep it's Skream that comes straight to mind.

It's such a hard choice though as there are so many top producers doing their own thing and creating quality music, to choose just one would be extremely difficult for me.

Them two for sure.

There music sounds proper music to me and not just noises stuck on a grid or shitloads of automation. Great melody and sick rhythm.

Other people I like would be Zed Bias, El-B, Oris Jay, Skream and Luke Envoy
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Toasty Boy is the most underrated producer across the whole of electronic music.
