dubstep may as well have it's own version of heat. well, i guess threads like this are heat. maybe we need more sensational picture led exclusives though.

I think it'd be better to be a sort of pointless Sunday supplement filler article - Skream reminiscing about his favourite gate would be a good start.
Hmm....

see 2badmice waremouse. badder than bad. like most of the other moving shadow stuff. which if memory serves me well, has nothing to do with goldie.

all the 92 moving shadow classics that i know of - 2 bad mice, kaotic chemistry, blame, all credit playford as well as the artist concerned. dunno about cosmo & dibs or any other stuff but suspect it's probably the same. I havn't got the first goldie album but I'm fairly sure he's credited.

The reason you haven't heard of rob plyford is because he's fat, glasses wearing, balding, middle class and white.....unlike goldie.

surely rob playford is a bit of a legend.
i wasn't trainspotting back then, but i sure knew who he was.
he was the guy who made goldie's tunes, for one thing.

But,
WHY????

it's not like he can't sell records under his own name.
what would be the point?
some conceptual tomfoolery?
WHY????

if that was true, he'd be really quite prolific wouldn't he?
DJing, writing, producing lots of tunes in two quite different styles, travelling, adopting african babies, going thru rehab, appearing on all those top 100 clips programmes.

WHY????

Cyber hype, marketing through media manipulation outside the mainstream. Words as weapons leading on to sonic warfare.

conceptual tomfoolery!

WHY ??? for the same reason KISS wore makeup.

Producer and artist are not neccesarily the same thing. Concept and execution. Goldie and Playford. It doesn't matter who did what, only that the music resonates with others. The rest is myth and legend and we need those. If only so we can destroy them and recreate them in our own name.

You gotta believe in something even if it is nothing.

kiss wear makeup but it's not blank.
but yeah, i guess this way everyone gets to imagine their own burial.
shy and retiring or outlaw in hiding.
maybe a robot.
i wonder if i would think the music was less brilliant if i didn't like the person behind it... dunno.

sven vath was also one of those "ja, then i want it to go up really high" type of producers. like goldie.
that project resulted in some hilarious shit.

but anyway, none of this lends credit to the idea that burial = kode9.
or does it?

I couldn't care less who Burial is - but I'm shocked and horrified that there are people out there who think Photek is "shit" and "overrated"!

Folks, if you're basing those opinions on stuff he recorded after The Bleeps Tune in '99, then I understand - it's dreadful - but the reason people talk about Photek in hushed tones is because of the stuff he made well before that. You owe it to yourselves to dig this stuff up! And, frankly, you should ignore Modus Operandi too, and go back to the bits he recorded from 93-96 as Photek, Aquarius and Studio Pressure. Some incredible stuff there.

Yeah early photek is the tits.

If anyones interested, I'll post up an all-Photek mix that bailey did a year or so ago.
Its all early to mid nineties stuff, and some of the tunes on it are top!!!
