Great tracks so far, I've got to get to bed, if I can. I think I need a handrail in my hallway, the ocean is rough right now.

@bud> Kontrol: really feeling the vocal sample. mixdown on this one is ace, not much to critique for me on that front. this would definitely get me moving on a dancefloor. all the elements are really interacting well together and but maybe it could be a bit more varied, even with little details like the glitchy sound around 1,52 for ex, breaking up the beat at times, maybe bring in some offbeat hi hats at some point so you can go for the 5 panel techno kids $$$$ ?
Horsetear: not sure about the reece-ey bass, i'm not sure how but it doesn't seem to sit well in the mix (listening on headphones mind). actually it sounds as if it went through some sort of stereo field expander? if so maybe i'd suggest trying making that effect a little less "wide"
Iran3: mmmm not really feeling the indie rock meets trance arpeggios vibe in this one, no offence
also the mixdown sounds surprisingly muddy coming from you? sounds like there's some clash between the upper frequencies of the bass and the distorted guitar, or maybe its just me... also the reverb on the vocals sounds too noticeable, if you see what i mean... especially at the end when the vocals are isolated
@demain: not sure if it's an excellent short song or the bare bones of a more fully structured one
works like that, but i could see this being extended in a 3-4 minutes piece. i'd like to hear more of the small variations with the guitar
@jizzman: loving that ambiance, but not a big fan of the weird glitchy repetitive sound coming in around 0,50, it really detracts from the rest i feel, but hey personal taste... aside from that really feeling the whole piece, sounds like the soundtrack for a version of blade runner with a less shitty weather. maybe i'd cut some of the higher frequencies in the main synth, not sure if it's an aesthetic choice but it sounds to me like there's a sortof ringing going on at times(again i'm listening on headphones so i might be talking shit)
@psychs: not sure how WIP this is, feels like a really good intro to a dungeon roller. i kept waiting for that tension that builds and builds to be released at some point, and then it ended
don't get me wrong, it's good stuff but it never really drops, i don't necessarily mean a drop like "drop the bass" sample + air horn, cue midrange shitfest, but something that indicates to me as a listener "ok, the tension i built on releases now, it's on", which is what what you have to now really hints to but never delivers
@no way san jose: great work with the percussions. did you voluntarily avoid using the standard distorted 808's grime bassdrums ? because this track is practically begging for some, like i kept expecting one to drop at some point. like something that hits on the 1 and makes me go "oh shit".
if anything i feel the track lacks the punctuating function that these serve in your "standard" grime beat. not sure i'm expressing myself clearly...doesn't have to be distorted 808's mind, could be horns sampled from a rockabilly stomper or anything

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
thanks man thats the stuff i dont recheck but its more like the high end with a convolution reverb as far as i remember. might need to check on dif headphones to a b itdfaultuzr wrote:Horsetear: not sure about the reece-ey bass, i'm not sure how but it doesn't seem to sit well in the mix (listening on headphones mind). actually it sounds as if it went through some sort of stereo field expander? if so maybe i'd suggest trying making that effect a little less "wide"

hah yeah iran is a rsik taker def going for a muddy soundwall vibe might clean out tiny bitmore than though. hm the vocals drier than just back to the orginal sample?
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
NWJ: With that grime lead you've got, I would change the amp envelope, bring down the sustain, and add some reverb instead. So it is more of a decaying lead-style synth as opposed to a pad which is how it kinda sounds right now.
Defaultuzer (surimi): I would add some hihats at some point in the track. They don't have to be like really fast 1/8 or 1/16 hihats. Could just be 1/1 or 1/2.
Defaultuzer (Splib): for that sound that occurs at 0:37, 0:41, etc, I would make that a bit 'larger' or more present in the mix. Maybe some more reverb so it lasts longer in the phrase.
BudSpence: More hihats!
Psyche: really cool song. I would make some of those percussion sounds that begin around 1:09 louder. With the sub, I would vary up the LFO rate a little bit more. Like at 1:08 it goes from 1/6 to 1/2 or something like that? I'd do that more often. Or maybe change to 1/8 or 1/12 for a note here and there just to mix it up. I really like the pads by the way. Awesome tune.
If I didn't give you feedback, it's cause I couldn't think of anything constructive to say and I don't want to give empty, useless, typical soundcloud comment "nice job!" feedback. Rest assured I did listen to every song!

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
@psych
love this sub haha. hm imo its all a bit too dry for the space you have free. that said i dig the elements you can maybe add some tube to the bassy sounds some warm hardness lol
really wanna hear a long plate reverb on this snapclap sound. nice bongo hi hat work. maybe let the sub wobble halftime more often?
@dfaultuzer
SPLIB
really clean. hm i dunno about the kick i like the vinyl style but maybe dif haha its just minimal and as the song developes its not a big thing.
dig this dark reece sub combo. i dunno about the new element at 1.08 has a silent hill vibe to it but its too basic in what it does maybe a dif filter combo on top? i am really not sure if you need it at all
maybe instead a dif version of your reece? to fill the gap?
the rest is there just this kick and the sound
Surimi
nice beat structure got a nice idm vibe. this one stab sounds a bit harsh at one point. nice melody layering yeah maybe include some of those silent hill sounds haha dunno theres a pack with silent hill sounds would add some nice atmopshere here and there
@Demaine
haha yeha dig it sth different not dif but dif here :3
maybe find some vocals and make millions dunno?
and maybe the clap make it more mellow ♥
@Jizzman
oha boc vibe almost
yeah not sure should i say fuck you or fuck u haha its great man could be in a game or on a solid album
its maybe not a banger per se but its a song inbetween songs one you find later
maybe if anything you could try around with its length see if it could be cut at 3.30 or sth
def imo the best form you on tuna
@nowaysj
oha hard one its so edgy haha in a good way the cut of clap is mean like reverb i dont think so
like a 2000th version of the 80s snare
maybe let the sample play full at points?
is this your idea of trap haha than add some 808s man :3

Psych:
The snap on that kick is too harsh imo. I'd either pull the top end back or put a light bit of filtered reverb to smear out the HF transient. Digging the other percs though.
Bud
What an odd track and yet it all feels really cohesive. Sounds like an underground genre I haven't heard of yet. Liking the shakery percussion, and the sound design overall is really nice. Just noticed it was a set, I only listened to the first one because fuck you. Actually this second one has pretty vicious bass. Low end could be tightened up a bit.
Dfault
Nice groove. Those phasey filtery hat sounds on offbeats sound a bit off. They could just be a bit too loud. Layering a crisper hat underneath might work. Or possibly a shaker with two 16th notes like "cha-ca". I agree with nowaysj on that synth bit that comes in later. Doesn't quite fit. If you have it in midi, I'd just take the first note that slides down and lower it. Would sound better if it was a bit chromatic I think. Harmonically it doesn't sound minor enough to fit with everything else.
Your second track was pretty nice too. Usually I don't like happy major type tracks but you kept it textural and interesting enough that I didn't find it fruity.
Demaine
Sounds nice. Got a good thump to it despite being acoustic guitar based. Could soften the claps up with a bit of reverb. I like the texture of the guitar. Sounds like some slight slapback delay, reminds me of grain stretching artifacts.
Jizzy J
Cool soundscape. You're straddling the line between digitial and organic without it sounding disjunct. I think it needs a break right around the time where nwj made a comment about breaking it. Just like pulling some stuff out and bringing it back or changing some relationships somehow to keep it from dragging on too long right before you start the outro.
NWJuicy
Keeping with your theme I see. Too fast for me. Needs some reverse reverb to announce the oncoming of the main part after the intro. I really hate drum machine percussion so that's always a complaint of mine. I'd like to hear it slowed up to grind speed and using some more abstract percussion like foley samples. Although I think the tempo and in-your-face percussion both actually fit well with the theme of the track. I guess I'm just averse to the overt.
I reformatted my pc and haven't reinstalled any production shit yet. Last time I did this though, once I finally got everything back on, I had a big burst of productivity. A forced break is like pulling the bowstring back. It's nice to re-evaluate all your tools and only keep the hash of what you need. I want to go on a big sampling and sound design spree and build up a solid palette of sound to draw from. I can't stand using presets or prefabbed samples but they're dead useful, so making my own should give me the best of both worlds.

:3 i dunno man sometimes cleaning sth makes it steril
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
The long tail of the kick is conflicting with that portamento sub I think. Tightening up the kick envelope and ducking the sub with it a bit might help.
