nice track mate.

not much bad to say, loved the vocals.

maybe some variation on the bass would be an alternative

and by my taste the drums didnt really stand out

but i think its a great track overall, got everything i personally like to hear in a tune, very chilled out. could def listen to an album worth of tunes like this.

i found it to be alot like burial & kode 9 in many ways [but thats not a bad thing]

any chance of a 320?

or link to buy maybe? 8)

thanks for the feedback man. I'm with you about the drums, gotta find a better sounding kick. I'm change up the bass a little too, I mainly concentrated on the vocals and structure today. I'll pm you a 320 tomorrow, it's late here in the states. cheers!

:)
Ok, I like the basis of it. The bass floats in just right, not really my type of tune most of the time, but it certainly has its place. One thing I'd do is give the siren dynamics. Right now the siren just stays constant through out the entire song, I like it raising tension in the intro, but once the drop comes turning down or spacing out the siren would help focus attention on the drop/vibe. Secondly, I'm not sure how intentional this is, but the delay on the vocals could be a bit better. Right now the 'wet' delay hits right at 100% the same volume as the sample, even turning that down a bit would make it clearer (though not too clear) and disturb the ears (at least mine) less. Just gotta give the tune a bit more up & down, and you've got something on your hands.
hey cheers for feedback man.

definately understand what you mean, gonna give it another go.

alot of the problems come down to the fact i use Live 6 Lite :(
Get yourself at least Live LE! I can't imagine dealing with the limitations of Lite, though at least now it's 200 bucks cheaper to upgrade.

Cheers for the feedback, I'll be sure to take note of it all and post up the next mixdown.

been producing a while and recently turned my hand to dubstep - like many others im sure...

only mixed on headphones so far as i do most of my production at night but wondering if this is an acceptable kinda vibe for dubstep heads and can i get away with the ultra simple bassline ??

Made this 8-bit thing:
http://soundcloud.com/stranger-song/romance-5

Gave my absence remix some real swing, but I need to fix the bass I think. Now it sounds like some kind of jungle experiment gone wrong:

I think we should make a "rule" in this thread to only upload using soundcloud, anyone else with me on this? it's just easier than going to mediafire, megupload, etc. and downloading the track... or am I just being really lazy??

I for one absolutely WILL NOT download stuff to review anymore. It's time consuming, it sits on my HD and I have to remember to remove it, etc. THe great thing about soundcloud is that you can edit your audio file uploads as much as you want so it's an easy way to post a w.i.p for peeps to review. I'm all for it and will not be giving feedback anymore on stuff I have to dl unless we have already have some sort of a working relationship or we're homies. I love giving feedback and I get on the forum every morning looking for tunes to review, so I wish more peeps would get a soundcloud or virb.

@Legend4ry-Would've hit you up on aim, but since you're checking here...I like the idea of letting those pads ride and fade out with some delay on them alone around 2 minutes, then coming back with a bit faster bass line something to get em movin just a bit and maybe taking it up a whole step? Maybe even switching from the atmospherics to a slightly overdriven organ sound would be a nice change? Also, just my opinion, but I'd love some hi- hat fills, the hats are so nice in this tune man, a little more dancing from them every 8 bars or so would be really cool, right at the end of the loop. Maybe automate some panning through the hi-hat fill to so that it would sond like it was spinning around your head in a circle. And...one more bit of my thoughts, some HP/LP filter sweeps in some of the places that you let that synth hang on the air a bit, just really spice it up a bit. Lovin the tune though man! Can't wait for ya to finish it!

@Dignan-Nice job with that old school vocal man!! Thats a classic tune! Here's my crit, beef up your bass, it's a bit too maellow, spice up those hi-hats a whole lot, a mellow tune like this man the hats are gonna really carry a lot of the rhythm, also the whole mix is kinda bland, work on your gain structure a bit more, there's a lot of headroom left for you to explore, that synth that comes in a t 34 seconds, very nice, however, a bit over used with that chord run you play at 1min and agiain throughout the tune, less is more man, I can't say that enough lately, great music is like the blues man, a bluesman can say something so soulful and deep just by sustaining one note for 15 seconds, I suggest backing off that synth a bit and just letting this beautiful tune breathe some more, let the drums say more. Turn up your rimshot, use some delay on it in some place and just let it hang on the air, your kick is kinda weak too, maybe a bit of a boost around 80hz would help or a little layering. Also right around 2:10 I would bring in the beat again for a while longer, that's a nice breather, but it's so soon in the tune I feel like you're losin some movement there, maybe a shorter drop, then bring back the beat, change it up a bit, run it for a minute, then around three minutes, do your longer atmospheric breakdown, then you can bring the drums back again at the end with a bit of a change-up in the pattern and you'll be able to hold someone's attention better and also get your tune up over 4 minutes. pm me if you want you can hit me up on aim later. Big up, love your style!

hi, one thing i would have to say is [apart from it being very short] is that the drum sound needs more tweaking as you havent got it sounding very punchy, especially the snare.

also give the arrangement alot of thought, very import [obv]

but i think its a good start, sounds alot better than my first dubstep choons

the bass is good, obv its all a little repetitive [but its only 55 secs, so]

definately the best parts are the atmos. and the delay you used...

very dubstep.

hope this helped.

I'm not at home at the moment, so I'll give some feedback later tonight. I have 2 tunes that I would like some feedback on if anyone has some time. The tunes are "Growl" and "OneAndOne" on my Virb page. Neither has been mixed at all, and they were produced on my headphones, so hopefully it's not too bad on you.

http://virb.com/2410464737369413

Thanks in advance.

GROWL
so it is really light on all of the middle freqs it screeches at you instead of growls like the dentist drill sample need to eq some space in the mid range cause as flat and dull as those frequencies are it is still really muddy nice idea for a tune though
