I absolutely love Phonebooth and it's pretty much just one long scene in a street

To be fair tho, they all have ridiculously good dialogue..Dredd didn't, altho I think that was probably on purpose..

seconded, saw it about 6 months ago and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Jonah Hill was good in a non-comedic role as well.

fair point but finji didn't say it was because the dialogue was poor, the fact it was all set in the same building was the criticism, not that the dialogue wasn't good enough for the film to be set in the same building.

finding it really hard to relate to people bigging up Moneyball and the Hurt Locker. Moneyball had something going for it, but I've neve been able to sit through the Hurt Locker before tbh. Then again, I'm not big on anything relating to terrorism or the middle east for that matter. I found Jarheads to be another vomit inducing movie.

I fell for this actress in that hillbilly movie,

12 Angry Men is an incredible film. I didn't enjoy the fact it was set in one building because it felt like it restricted the story.. the above films you mentioned are partly genius because they work so well being set in one place. I much prefered The Raid than Dredd.. Dredd felt like it was sort of copying The Raid but making it futuristic. I know they didn't copy it but thats just how it felt.

Carnage is another film that tried the one room setting and think that was its downfall.. really enjoyed parts of Carnage but I kept checking to see how long was left, it really dragged on.

The Raid def had better kicking...but I enjoyed Dredd, it's sort of setting it's sights small to begin with..next one should have some more epic use of the city..and hopefully Judge Deth by the 3rd

Interesting. I didn't think the setting was to its detriment. For me the focus was on the development of the individual jurors & their position, the crime just facilitated that so I don't think there was any need for much action outside of the room.

Yeah I assumed they were written around the same time thats why I said I don't mean that they copied, it just felt like the exact same film but futuristic. For the record I quite enjoyed Dredd, it just had the potential to be a lot better than it was. I think being set in one area restricted it.

I think if you enjoyed Dredd you'll definitely enjoy The Raid.

Watched a Touch of Cloth yesterday, its not a film.. 2 part tv show written by Charlie Brooker. Thought it was hilarious, well worth a watch if you're a fan of dark, subtle comedy.

Also whoever it was slagging of Carnage is wrong, IMO I thought it was fantastic. All the actors in it smashed it out of the park.

Seven Pounds. Will Smith plays his part well, it's quite mushy, a bit of a romantic girls film but with a decent enough storyline that confuses you until you find out what's happening at the end that makes it watchable.

He went well overboard cussing the blind guy though, unnecessary!

I fucking LOVE this movie. Perfect comfort viewing for a Sunday when you're feeling a bit rough.
