No ones doubting that. Sometimes I feel like playing around with some vsts, but after 30 minutes I already
miss the freedom you have in Reason.

They got to me by making a top daw.
If you know your shit (vital imo) you'll find plenty of problems with Live for example. Only one major problem with
Logic and also plenty with Cubase.

But as Josh Holmes once said: no one knows.

As someone who owns both, I have to say, Logic > Reason. But I only have Reason 5 so maybe they improved it in the newer versions.

Freedom? But it doesn't support VSTs and can't do anything that another DAW can't do, so how do you miss the freedom?

As both a reason and an ableton user, i'd like to say that it was a royal pain for me to get used to ableton, because i missed the reason workflow so much. It's just so intuitive, so logical. It works so smooth, no cpu problems ever, no crashes, nothing. I could whip out melodies in the piano roll in a matter of seconds (i still struggle with this in Ableton - although i've come to prefer what ableton does in the arrange window). I think it's really just a matter of what you started with. I primarily use ableton now, and if i had started with it, i'd probably really dislike reason's workflow. But reason definitely lacks things other DAWs have been having for ages, and now they make up for this with the rack extensions, which are really kind of like vsts.

Reason's automation kicks ableton's ass though

REASON LOVE HEART LOVE HEART LOVE HEART.
I love it for the reasons mentioned by Rmonik but also because its the only "daw" i can run on my laptop lol. Malstrom is pretty damn sick but thor is just the most useful and intuitive synthesizer ever. Scream distortion is pretty awesome as well and i am yet to find anything as good (versatile) as that as a vst.

You conveniently didn't quote the part where I said it's vital that you know shit about daws.

well what can you do in reason that you can't in another daw? apart from the instruments which are reason specific, it doesnt really have any capabilities that logic or cubase doesn't.

Yes it does, but you need to know about it.

That also indicates the difference between an argument or a debate and you talking crap.

Well to begin just about everything you see on the screen can be automated, as well as it being only two clicks. Right click - automate. Done

I never agreed to the terms of this debate. When futures opted to create a thread for it, the first thing I said
was and I quote: 'We should all gang up on Gribble and point out that he dun kno'.

Don't support his conspiracy delusions, you'll just egg him on!

I was just talking to my buddy who's getting into production about Reason. He was asking me what made it so great for a few minutes until he realized he mixed up Reason and Reaper. Hahah didn't know why he was so hellbent on quizzing me about it. Reason does have pretty cool routing though (although not as efficient and streamlined as Reaper's, but I can't measure Propellerheads up to such godlike stature, they're doing their own thing) Been a while since I fucked with it though, was right after Thor was introduced so V4 I think?
