Moultz wrote: City along with Chelsea for me do stand for whats wrong in football having spent a fuck load (£930m) to reach the PL summit. People realise that and expect them to do well but thats what you can do when your owned by a filthy rich arab who has the ability to play with a football club as if it was a game of chess. If anything the footballing bodies need to bring in spending caps and other regulations to make competition fairer but to them its all about money money money. Yes they spent big and did it over a very short period of time but who wouldnt do that in their position?

Ahh, that was us Gooners a few years ago. We used to say the same. What was it
David Dein used to say? "Chelsea are firing £50s at us." Welcome, welcome to our
side of the fence, finally. Just kidding.

Money is the only way that these teams have financially doped themselves into
contention. They still don't have class or history and ergo they will not have the
fanbase of the traditionally bigger clubs in the PL.

Liverpool, Utd & Arsenal are still the biggest clubs from the UK. There is some
thing to be said about their appeal. In the eventuality of clubs getting their own
TV rights, which is a long-drawn inevitability, these are the clubs that will benefit
the most. It will re-dress the balance back towards them unless the oil barons
want to pump MORE money into their teams.

Look at Abrhamovic - HE wanted the CL and it's eluded him so many times - he looks
despondent with Chelski too. They've sucked a shitload of money from his pocket and
not paid anywhere near enough dividends back, because their model of business is
unsustainable. Playing "real-life" football manager is the sure-fire way to lose a shed
load of money if you're only ever focussed on the first team.

The one thing I will say about Citeh over Chelski is - have you seen the development plans
they have? JAESUS! They want to have 3 training complexes and a reserve stadium.
20000+ seater. If they can complete that and get it done within the next 10 years they will
actually create the british Barcelona system.

Just saw the video. So fucking funny. Some of these footballers are beyond pussies. Look at Aguero's face when he gets a little dig with the knee. You'd think he'd been shot. These footballers give it big, and then act like that. I'd be embarassed to be seen acting like that on TV.

As much I hate him now, when Roger Johnson was at blues, they were playing Bolton, Jaaskelainen took offence at him jumping into him, and slapped him round the face. Johnson just stood there. Fair play.

Yeh ive seen their plans which to me is fine. They are looking to create a legacy over the next decade and beyond. Fair enough to them. You have to realise though that these arabs have almost infinte money. Something much more than Ambromovich and any other club for that matter..

What I will be interested to see is if City can now slow down their purchases etc. They will gain a lot of respect from clubs and football fans worldwide if they stop buying every fucking potentially great player for a stupid fee. Again they are linked with a fuck load of players for stupid money like Eden Hazard over the summer. For me they need to keep this team. They have proven it is a title winning team and it can only gain experience and teamwork from here. A lot of these players are new to the squad in the past year or so: Silva, Dzecko, Aguero, Nasri, Tevez?, Yaya, Balotelli. If they stick around for the next 3 or 4 years without new major players coming in and disrupting the place by taking up their first team places they could become a serious force in world football. They need a stable core to their team.

Like most teams they will bring in players. This is natural. Players begin to show signs of weakness and better players are brought in but City need to refrain from just buying the next best things just because they can. They also need to use this legacy they are building to bring in players in from their youth system. Who was the last person to come from their youth system and actually stand a chance of being a first team regular. I felt Onuoha was potentially one of Englands next best CB's being at a City side on the up. But they just brought in new, expensive defenders and fucked him off and he will dwindle into the sea of average CB's and will forever play for teams like QPR, Norwich and Swansea...

Well that was decent. Had to watch the United game as I was round a Man U fans house, so we are watching Ryan Giggs keep the ball in the corner for 5 minutes while the commentators are saying about all the goals etc from the City game, the second we turn over to the City match, Aguero has just got the ball and scores. I just up and go YESSSSSSSSS. Not the most popular chap in the room tbh.

Everyone is saying about how City have bought the league etc etc. How much did the United starting line-up cost?? Pretty sure all the team apart from the 3 players who came through the youth team would have cost them more than £10m. City arent the only team to have spent a load of wedge.

Congrats to City.
The league is based on money.
Why fault City for spending it correctly?

Just want to confirm that I know exactly "how it is" and that the league is based on money, but it's still fucking shit.

Name one top flight division (any country, any sport) where it's not based on money.

Cisse and Ben Arfa i think will stay at Newcastle for at least one more season, Ba will probably go.
Cant help feeling this was the best chance Newcastle were going to get for a long while, Chelsea are bound to throw a load of money at new players, Tottenham should strengthen and you would think Arsenal can't be as bad next season. Might finally be the season Everton make a decent start as well...

Can't believe they're getting rid of Pat Rice. Always one of my go-to-guys when I'm looking for a coach on Football Manager!

Oh right, thought I saw an article somewhere that he was "being moved on" as part of a backroom staff shake up.

Fair enough then!

:a: u really should be supporting someone else bruv! Finished above Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool etc dont forgot
Defensively fucking abysmal, but overall considering circumstances I am buzzing after this season, unlucky with injuries again, incredible team spirit to turn things around, and as usual we get to watch the most exciting football Europe has to offer week in week out, all at a club that actually makes a profit and is financially sustainable. Big up Wenger, Rice and the whole establishment for doing things proper
