yeah he's a proper incredible author, love the vibe all his stuff shares, and i don't think he's ever written anything which the sea isn't in, almost as a major character in the background, which i like

just finished 'On The Road' by jack kerouac.

its an awsome book, he wrote in in one go, on a 120 foot scroll of tracing paper sheets that he cut to size and taped together, using benzadrine to keep himself awake and it reads like that, proper non-stop. its about him and his mates travelling around the US in the 50s listening to be-bop and taking drugs.

check it out!

'Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets' by David Simon (creator of The Wire). It's his account of a year spent on with the Baltimore police homicide unit in 1988 and it's well worth checking out if you like crime writing, or indeed The Wire

Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernières. If David Simon was writing about the 2nd world war this would be it. Don't watch the film though - it's shit.

read it the other week, amazing book. Although he did plan, and take notes for years before actually writing it. Still its written without edits and that, neal cassady is a character! Need to buy his books.

Reading "Down and Out in Paris and London" by George Orwell. Should really be essential reading for anyone.
