check out "minimonsta" vst... it is a moog emulator. has some presets with this oldschool sound.

funny that you mention it... ive been working on making an oldschool houston-rap sounding whomper.

Man really any synth will work, Sylenth is a mofo on sounds like that. But yah just play a riff at a really high pitch and start cycling through oscilators/waveforms. I'd recommend some of the free CM VSTs.
Yoyoyo.

its so easy i just made you one

1. get and install this http://glenstegner.com/MinimogueVA.zip
2. import my gfunk VST preset http://204.124.181.194/~pavelk/jsilverm ... /gfunk.fxp
3. play notes and hold them to hear squelching chorus sawtooth with porta and legato and moog filter
4. ????
5. PROFIT

i prefer simple vst freebie
else single osc modulate pitch and hape x/y
and high pitch
oh and x/y filtrer etc yea why simple vst is easier as all in ne since im lazy
some more involved for simple g funk resynth
