That’s right Anti Pop consortium will be performing on 5th November @ Scala. Support will come from Juice Aleem and APSCI. They will be performing material from there first album in seven years, “Fluorescent Black,” the LP will be released on 9th September.
Anti-Pop Consortium is an alternative hip hop group that released several tape singles and two albums primarily on Dan the Automator's experimental hip-hop label 75 Ark before being signed by Warp Records in 2000. The group formed in 1997 when Beans, High Priest, M. Sayyid and producer Earl Blaize met at a poetry slam in New York City. They are often praised for their stream-of consciousness lyrics, often irreverent and featuring associative groups of words, and their ability to give seemingly unrelated word clusters hidden meaning. They were frequently compared to other rappers with unorthodox lyrics, such as De La Soul, Kool Keith, and MF Doom.
Juice Aleem, long-acknowledged as one of the finest MCs the UK has recently released his long awaited album ‘Jerusalaam Come’. The album is a concoction of beats and broad musical influences held together by Juice's unique lyrical style and mental dexterity. Largely produced by Gamma/Shadowless legend Blackitude, it's an album which is both as raw and as sophisticated as the minds who have made it.
