Looking for multi band VST that can host multiple effects.

Post by sifres » Sat Aug 22, 2009 12:09 pm

Ok... So I've been using Live 8 for the half year and before that I was using Orion Platinum. Totally feeling Live and not going back to Orion. I am however missing one Orion specific pluginn and I'm wondering if it exists in VST form.

This is a plugin that hosts 3 seperate plugins for different freq bands. Sadly you can't seem to host it in anything other the Orion.

I know the way around this in live is to send it to 3 audio tracks and do manual filtering. But just wondering if there might be a vst solution to this.

Preferably freeware off course but anything payware could be an option...

Thnx for the tip, I grabbed them and they look nice.

But what I am looking for is a plugin that can load VST effects on different frequency parts. So for instance; you load a compressor over the Low end, distorsion over the mid, and reverb over the high end. And being able to load the vst plugins you already have to achieve this.

Saves a lot of time splitting and bussing again :)

Use an audio effect rack. Set up three chains with the EQ8 and map their frequencies to macros. Name the three chains low middle and high. Save this as a preset called splitter, for example. Then you can drag and drop Vsts into the chains to your heart's content. Only one track needed.

The rack and chain system in Live is really powerful, you should learn how to use it.

Never cooked this one up myself. I know the rack system kicks ass and have used this for instruments.

Thnx for the advise! I'll be trying this out!

Usually there is a way to do most things with the Live devices, and because they are part of the DAW they carry less CPU overhead than VSTs.

I'm glad you got that working. I would suggest you tweak the EQ curves to get a good sound, the defaults are a little steep IMO.

I love Live, I wish my computer was good enough to run it properly
