Kuhn - Raw FREE 320, CRITICISM PLZ

Post by kuhn » Wed Aug 26, 2009 9:49 pm

New tune up on http://soundcloud.com/kuhn-1 called "Raw."

For my dubstep tracks, I use Reason and Ableton. For this tune, I used my vocals, a lead synth I found in a Reason refill that I'm sure Joker has used on several of his tracks, and four different bass sounds: two that I designed in Reason, and two made with Massive.

There's also some ambient noise on the track from Morocco: I had a handheld digital recorder with me when I traveled there two months ago. I don't know how much it adds sonically to the song, but there's something personally significant about adding the voices of strangers I passed on the streets of Fez to a tune I made here on Long Island that somehow fits into the culture of a distant country (England) and city (Bristol) that I've never even been to.

I'm an outsider to dubstep like I was an outside in Morocco, I guess.

This is the first track I've allowed to be released. There are lots more. Please give me criticism.

The 320 is available for download on my Soundcloud.

PEACE and THANKS

I really dig this sound, but somehow it sounds if your kicks are really soft?

Dav.id, I hear you on that.. it's been hard to mix because the bass frequencies are mashing together and swallowing those kicks. I might try adding another kick with a higher timbre... is it getting in the way of your feeling the tune?

Any advice on this anyone?
