its the same thing as saving up for 1210's straight away. it'll be worth it in the long run. theres a reason why serato's more expensive and popular. though i have been told that the traktor one is still a good bit of kit. plus it reads the bpm which my serato doesnt seem to do!

I use Traktor Scratch Pro and love it, imo, there are some advantages to Serato(some disadvantages too, Serato is also a great program and very usable).

And yes, both work fine mixing dubstep

It's not what you use that matters, it's what you're doing with it.

Anyone know what the deal is with mixing it up between the time coded vinyl and real vinyl is?

Does it involve changing the wires?

it just means flicking a switch on the input for each channel, assuming your mixer has more than one input per channel, which some cheaper/older mixers don't. vinyl uses the phono input and serato/traktor/whatever uses the line in so you just need to flick a switch to swap between each format
