what are you using to convert your wavs to mp3s?

Post by cloak and dagger » Tue Sep 08, 2009 3:31 pm

I had a program I liked on my computer before I formatted, and now when I went back to redownload it I see that the new version totally blows.

Surprisingly, I'm having trouble finding a good program for this that will run on Windows 2000 (Razorlame had problems, and Foobar only works on XP or higher).

So, any recommendations? I know I need something with the LAME codec, but there's 500000 programs out there and seemingly no consensus on which ones are good.

I have something on my comp called mp3 converter...I don't use it lol, but you can give it a try.

I also used Musicmatch before that...it came with my comp, so you may actually have it.

I've been using audition recently, and it does mp3 exports, I don't know whether it's LAME encoding or not, I'm a bit clueless on that front.

but check if you've got musicmatch....my old comp from 2002 had it already installed, so does my current comp...so it must be on there

Word, thanks guys. I figured out RazorLame couldn't run properly if it was in a directory with Japanese characters in the title...so I moved it and it works without errors now. Thanks!

Just a quick razorlame related question, didn't want to start a new thread...

whats the difference between joint stereo and stereo?

are there any other settings that should be tweaked? I'm just looking for the highest quality setting.... as one does

cheers
