Well I will be working at IBM (Greenock) which is close to Glasgow, not sure where the appartment will be though.

Can't bring my pc btw, so no producing before I've purchased a lap. :(

Only been there a couple of times but Glasgow seemed cool. Do Mungos still do Dub and Grub at the 78? Numbers always looked like a good night, too, but never actually reached it.

Also the highlands are a stones throw north and are stunning.

There's loads of fun stuff to do in Scotland!

For a start Mushroom season is upon us and the wee buggers pop up all over the place.

Like Mr Buckfaster said there's plenty of good nights in Glasgow, Mungo's HiFi, Numbers, Ballers Social, Fortified Sessions, check the UK North Events thread for details.

There's also a cracking wee festival on later this month called Knockengorroch, at which Mungo's Hi Fi run the dance tent, and, if you're here for 18 months there's plenty of other free parties and festivals to get along to.

It's a shame you're moving to Greenock, it is a bit of a shithole but it's spitting distance to the big smoke so don't worry too much about that.

Scotland's great, it's not all offal and smack!

See!

Mate I work in greenock trust me you'll be bored out your tits.

The place is a shithole. The only saving grace is that the birds here are right up for it and the only club in the town is open pretty much every night.

Your only a few stops away from Glasgow though and theres some good nightlife there, the numbers and ballers guys have been putting on some sick dubstep nights of late plus its a student city so theres snatch everywhere.

I won't mind the work, I'm currently unemployed so a steady job for 1.5 years is exactly what I want...

I just read some stuff about Greenock, and I first thought it was a joke, but is it really that bad? Like junkies and knives all over the place?

Parts of it are pretty fucked yeah but you wouldnt ever really be in those parts unless you were a smackhead or lived there - you wont need to live in those places as rent is relatively cheap even in the nice places, everywheres got its bad places though eh? Theres some quite nice parts it just depends where you are. If your working in IBM you might better moving to Largs which is where I live, its 20 minutes on the bus which drops you off right outside IBM, its a quiet little seaside town but we're all pretty friendly and its a much nicer place to live than Greenock.

I suppose it will depend where your coming from just now, if you livn in the centre of London and your moving to Greenock your gona be suicidally bored. If you already live in a relatively small town then it might be interesting for you.

Benefits - Cheap rent, Easy birds, theres a college in Greenock which is really good for music and creative arts courses.
