Recommend me some good UK Hip-hop

Post by apheix » Fri Sep 11, 2009 9:16 am

^ as the title says. looking to discover some more good uk hip hop. I have been listening to a bit of foreign beggars, frisco, and ruckspin lately, so some recommendations along those lines would be cool

i'm loving a bit of Klashnekoff at the moment, i'd also recommend Braintax, Jehst, DJ Skully has some good mixtapes out, Yungun, Dubbledge, and Roots Manuva of course!

ever used last.fm? if you search for an artist you like you can play their "radio" which plays similar artists so that's a good way to find cool stuff.

Everyone's gotta start with Biro Funk by Braintax. An ill, timeless classic that is up there with the greatest, if not the greatest itself in UK Hip Hop.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Biro-Funk-Brain ... B00005RHJ2

On top of that, I highly recommend ALL of these albums, they all get five mics from me.

Run Come Save Me - Roots Manuva
Jehst - Return of the Drifter
Jehst - Falling Down
Council Estate of Mind - Skinnyman
Foreign Beggars - Asylum Speakers
The Sagas Of.. - Klashenkoff
Phi Life Cypher - Millennium Metaphors
Countryman - Skitz

Lowkey, Chester P, Rodney P, Lewis Parker, Verb T, Task Force, Life, Plan B are all worth a listen as well.

if u arent already doing it already, ill point u in the direction on where to get em for free ;)
