Logic 9... Is it worth it?

Post by partition » Sun Sep 13, 2009 6:03 pm

Hi, im currently using logic 8 and am settled with it but since apple released logic 9 I've been really tempted to upgrade but have heard of loads of people who are having problems with it.
What's everyones opinion of it?

btw the flex tool in logic 9 is amazingly powerful! You can mak your own rexes (.rx2) instantly from a clip of audio within a few clicks of a mouse!
This thing alone has also made me want to upgrade. I did some reading on Furture music (also some demo vids), looks amazingly handy.

No problems here. 9 is just like 8 only with the new features added. If you need the new features, get it. Personally Flex, 'bounce in place', and slicing loops to EXS24 make it worth it to me but it just depends what you use.

definitely interested in bounce in place, slice to exs, varispeed, and flex... just need some downtime to upgrade. can't take any chances when you've got deadlines...

I've found it for that cheap before but you had to be an educational institution to get it at that price. Have you already bought it at this price then?

Yo I try the student store but it says I have to be logged into my university campus to enter blah blah,

the link you shows me takes me straight through to the checkout (entering card details and everything)

question is, If I buy this will I need something to say I go to that university? or will it work on any student mac? or any mac for that reason?

Not too sure, I haven't tried it yet but I got that link off my mate and he bought a few bits through that educational link from home and he said it worked fine and went straight to checkout.

Logic 9 is sick there's a couple of annoying bugs with flex editing that needs ironing out for instance if you've placed flex markers on an audio file and you reverse the sample it keeps the markers on the left hand side of the file rather reversing them aswell (i.e. moving them over to the right).
But there's so many nice little touches i'll let em off

I'm going to get it :D
If you're planning on buying it educationally and you're not in college, and you do actually go to college (lol), just ring them up and quote that price, they'll sort you out!

Half of why I love being a student. The second half is student loan, yeah baby (Thats if the fucking government will ever get round to sorting it out)
