Used to use it, great host, few internal bits and pieces, depends what you want it for!

use it, love it, wouldn't use anything else.

funky features, too many to list.

bugs, found maybe 1 or 2 but nothing which has actually been a problem.

Cubase 5 is the muts nuts when it's running stably, I know a few people have had issues but if it runs good for you then you won't be able to live without it. I know different people like different tools and cubase isn't better/worse than logic which isn't better/worse than ableton, different tools for different people but cubase 5 is most definitely the one for me!

I do, i worked with cubase for years now so it was just logical to buy a legal version

I think 5 offers ALOT of really usefull features. I haven't regret the purchase for a minute.
Altough i was looking at the cd like "damn 550,- for a cd with software. That's two months rent!" lol

I really like variphrase and the whole mediabay and loopbrowser. Coming from sx3 the Eq's are just amazing.
The synths are in for some nasty sounds too especially Prologue (i thought it was).
The reverb is a big improvement to.

A negative point is it still crashes now and then. But i worked on a really old pc for years wich failed me everytime
so i developed a ctrl+s habit

. So i'm okay with it. It doesn't happen real often anyway.

Lol sorry man.

I've had it for a few months now, but turned my nose up, at first, to the synths that came with it. I've just been messing about with the prologue synth after you mentioned it and quite liked it, embracer is pretty phat, if a little tricky too. Quite nice for pads.

i have it running nicely on a quad core, but theres been some stability issues.

the main things im noticing are things like crashing whilst bouncing very occasionally, and crashing whilst doing things like pitch envelope edits with audio.. mostly i've found it very risky to do things like add hefty plugins whilst the sequencer is running, something i used to get away with just fine with sx3..

the eq's like u say are definately an improvement, you can actually add eq without too much shitty distortion for a change (rather than just subtract)

i have to say i never touch the built in vsti's though - IMO they all sound cheap, thin and lacking in body for me - i am rocking the nexus, sylenth, albino and outboard stuff.

which leads me to the next big praise, the audio editing which is just ridiculously good!

I'm running on a quad core to but not having any problems (apart from the fact my gfx card has just died) however I know other people have problems but mostly due to cpu spiking, the solution to this is the cpu affinity trick, I've never needed it myself but you can find info about it on cubase.net.

I've never had a crash on bouncing and the only plugins I've had problems with are dbGlitch (which didn't work in cubase 4 either) and the new NI Massive 1.1.4 (so I reverted back to 1.1.3) which others seem to have had the same problem with different sequencers anyway.

Seems to be a bit of a luck of the draw but I've been using mine extensively for quite a few months now and it's crashed maybe twice in that time.

For quite a while I decided to use the build in processing plugins exclusively and produced what I think were some pretty good results, saying that I don't consider myself any sort of audiophile and probably couldn't tell the different between unless they're were really shit. I have a uad-2 quad now though so they hardly get touched anymore.

However on the subject of the synths, I don't use them but I really think I probably should, most people ignore their existence but to be fair they're actually some of the more interesting synths out there and not your run of the mill va softsynths and I think they deserve to be explored.

How's nexus btw? I look into it every now and then and it looks interesting but I then think that since it's just massive rompler it's probably not that flexible and you end up using the same sounds that everyone else is thrashing, am I wrong? Also what addons/packs/whatever their called u been using?

Yeah the synths are actually pretty nice! I had the same thing though, thought yeah blabla synths whatever. Untill i started using them. And them they really are nice and phat as hell if you know how to use them.
Plus since i payed for that shit i better use them don't i!
