Synkro Chills

Post by jheri » Mon Sep 21, 2009 7:42 pm

I think I missed the memo about Synkro's crossover into insanely chill dubstep, seriously, tunes like 'Don't Know' and 'Tell Me' blow my fucking mind. They're so god damn sick, perfect for the end of the night after a messy rave.

Yeah these tunes are truly something. Want to hear more like these!

I dunno, a lot of these just skirt on the edge of quantized burial, with a better mixdown.

edit: Ok just re-listened to Get Down, even using the same gun sample noises as burial? really?

Always lush beats - last couple of remixes by him I've picked up (Rob Sparx's The Funk & DFRNT's Tripped) are in constant rotation

Synkro is top dog for sure.

His remix for me is silly-good. being released in the next couple of weeks too.

I can't go all this Burial comparison though - I don't hear it. Just about every day someone calls him out as a Burial rip - and I have to say, not one of his tracks reminds me of that kind of stuff. i don't want to get in to direct comparison, because it'll just be a list of pointless descriptors, but I think this whole "he sounds like Burial" thing - for any artist is wearing very thin.

Burial has had a clear influence on alot of producers, but not one of them sounds the same. The beauty is that they've all taken something different and worked it to their unique advantage.

Anyway, back on topic Synkro kills it. Every time - he's set for big things, guaranteed.

To be completely honest, I feel his more conscious tracks like "Jah Love" dubbed out 001. Or "King of Kings" on white label.

Still, I do dig all his tunes, just wish he would still put out a few more irie riddims!!! :D
