Cannot Dream (All done)

Post by two oh one » Mon Nov 20, 2006 5:44 am

Hello Everyone!

:) This is my first post on the forum. I've fallen in love with Dubstep - I grew up with a lot of Dub played my my Dad - Lee Perry, Mad Prof, King Tubby. It's fucking great hearing this new style that has emerged from the darker stuff. - Such a good vibe, the crowd making the music are right on and the people on this forum seem friendly and happy to help - I just had to join.

I hope this stuff just keeps ticking over and the scene stays small and true - From what I've seen, the attitude is just perfect and everybody should be proud of what they're doing. I'm loving the variety and how open minded everybody is. Too many other genres turn into pissing war cliques that end up with everybody conforming to sound identical, but it looks like the seeds are sown here to keep things as fresh and open as much as possible.

I decided to give the dub and other work a rest and start a Dubstep track this afternoon. This is just a quick snippet, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. It's far from perfect, I'm going to learn the basics and then branch out from there. I've been trying to figure out the bass, but I *think* I've got it sussed.

Cannot Dream

Cheers!

Although i love the adruptness of the drop and its the right idea, i feel the intro needs some working on, but yeah, when it drops its big! Welcome.

Yeah liking this, the hat rolls are really cool and love that harp intro - wish there was slightly more of it though. Like to hear the finished version
Hmm....

Hey, thanks for the kind words, guys! I'm going to try and get it finished up this week. What is a good length for a track? I'm thinking about 6 mins or so, otherwise it'll go stale. I've got to add some sound effects and all that stuff in there, once I make some that sound good.

Thump Rat - What would you suggest the intro needs? More diddles and doo-dads?

Cheers!

Less diddles, more doo-dads!

I just say develope the intro further, intergrate the harps with something else, perhaps adding a bit of delay/reverb or perhaps a pad, i dunno, i just felt it needs a bit more, but yeah, update us when its done cos it sounds sick so far.

Awwww...

Hey, thanks guys! I'm pretty sidetracked right now with some nasty business that I'm dealing with, but I'm appreciating the love! Thanks.

:)

I'm going to get back to this one and get it done when I'm back in the studio and away from this bloody desk...

:o

Thanks for the inspirational stuff I hear on here and words of encouragement I'm getting. This is my first effort and I'm pretty happy that it appears to be going down so well. I'll update this post when I get it done and post a 320.

Hope to be a regular member of this forum soon!

Cheers!

FUCKEN SICK!!!! :o

and 201 what you were sayin about how you're going to grow it sounds great. Maybe you could add some flute thing with the intro??

but the way you got the bass is professional!!!! it sounds GOOD. im listening to it the fourth time in a row now hahaha.

maybe your intro is just right: right about where the song ends now, you could have a break down, then some higher bass slams the chest and drags you back down under that non-dreaming ecstatic weighted state. and bring a flute or 3rd instrument in at that point, not in the intro!!

good luck and I hope the business lightens up!

I think the intro could use a couple light airy pads to bring a little more atmos to the tune. I definitely agree with eveyrone's thought on the drop. It pops in and just starts ripping at the speakers.

Please get this done. This is pure quality :D:

Thanks again!

I'll get it done soon! I'm going to flesh out the intro and figure out a middle and end for her.

Some chaoticness might happen.

:D
