Post by sotobar » Tue Sep 29, 2009 3:07 pm

Hello,
I am interested to buy a pair of monitors and i would like some tips...
I know that i should test the monitors my self , but i am going to buy them from the web so..
i am going to bother you guys.
So , i checked the web and i am between these monitors :

YAMAHA HS80M or HS50M
ESI NEAR08 CLASSIC
ALESIS M1 ACTIV MK2

I have recently made an upgrade from alesis m1 active 520's to krk rp6's and I love it. Nice bass response. Definately worth the buck. You can grab a pair of RP6's for 400 euro at Thomann. Dont know much about the others you listed tho.

wider frequency range doesn't necessarily mean they are better

This is true, you're frequency range might be 40hz-20khz, but you have to look at the actual graph to see where it starts rolling off. Your best bet is to get monitors with 8" drivers, most 5" drivers can't really reproduce a lot of sub-bass found in dubstep.
