you can make dubstep with any program

its hard to compare daws really, you are best just doing the research yourself with demos and videos. because obviously the reason dude is going to say reason, and the fl dude say fl and i will say...

...get ableton

Watch videos of DAWs on youtube and decide what works out for you best. Download demos and try them out too.

Reason..... haha jokes.

Yhe mate juss get demos, go to a friends house who already has a DAW and try producing on his system, etc. In the end it comes down to personal preference, I've tried switching over to Ableton but the VST's eat my CPU alive.

FL - a modern tracking app that can run many plugins very well, very easy to use and make beats
Reason - no chance of being distracted by endless plugins because its all internal
Ableton - modern daw designed with electronic musicians in mind for a very good workflow and easy recording
other daws - probably shit innit

all im saying is that if you learn how to make sounds, making a dubstep sound will not be an issue

if someone tells you how to make dubstep sounds specifically, you will get frustrated in other areas and start looking for help there in tiny batches

how do i make pads, how do i make ____

just learn the basics first and you will figure out the rest i promise!
