NEW LABEL LOOKING FOR TALENT

Post by lhd » Thu Oct 01, 2009 3:17 pm

I'm starting a new label called Life In Headfones. I will only start out with ten people on the label. I will work very hard to share the voice of the artist with the world. Everyone on the label will get at least one vinyl release per year. I will have distro(hopefully) with Z-Audio UK. I will be releasing dubstep and my partner will be releasing some d'n'b tunes. I will NOT sign senseless wobbler's. I will sign anything deep and mellow, deep and heavy, very well made wobble with less midrange, funky stuff, etc. I you're interested send 5-10 tunes and one mix to this drop box. I WILL NOT accept tunes any other way, drop box only. Big up all, this is gonna be great!!

there was a next dude last week who asked for something like 20-25 tunes.

5-10 seems reasonable.

Ive never understood this approach. Surely if your passionate about releasing music you'd go out and find the music yourself and then approach the producer, rather then asking people to send their tracks in.

Yep, I rarely sign tunes that are sent to me. Plus I don't care if you only have one good tune, I want that tune.

you make a really good point.. but somethings you may have not heard of a producer but you really like that style tho (these are one of them odd signing you would do)

So I only want to sign ten people and go with a more traditional approach to releasing music. Rather than trying to just sign tunes, I want to sign artists. Ten artists. Then I want to watch them grow as they release tunes with me. If they release on labels that's all good too. I would hope that if I was buttering their bread at Life In Headfones that they would give me first shot at a new tune, but if it didn't work out that way that would be fine too. If you can't mix, then you can't play shows and I don't want anyone who can't promote their own tunes on my label. That's why I asked for a mix. I asked for 5 tunes b/c at least 3 of 'em will not be good enough. I have 8 people right now and I want 10. You're right, none of the people who sent me tunes got signed, but, I got a lot of great publicity. It's just a part of the process. Big up to everyone for caring. So far my roster looks like this:
Hexadb
Fbom
Droid Sector
Trifunk
Simonoff
Vishnu
and two others.
