Come Thursday 5th November, Hyp!Hyp!Hyp! will kick off T Bar’s season of bass with leading lights from the UK bass scene, spanning the recent development of the sound in recent years; from garage, 2-step and first generation dubstep, through to future bass and grimey tech-bass variations.
First up in T Bar’s Funktion One assisted basement we have future-step pioneer and all round buzz producer/DJ Reso. From his engineering work on Burial’s seminal Wayfaring Stranger remix, to his current place as leader of the new school of heavyweight dubstep producers, Reso’s star has been in the ascendancy for a while now, culminating in two much anticipated releases on London’s Civil Music imprint – Beasts in the Basement EP, and of course his massive anthem If You Can’t Beat ‘Em. Expect the unexpected as this studio head is bound to bring through his latest weaponry.
Joint headliner on this occasion will be one of dubstep’s founding fathers, DJ Hatcha. With over 12 years of professional DJ experience behind him, Hatcha was there at the birth of garage, and was the first DJ to take the darker sides of the sound and mix it up in his sets to create the deep, skanking, sub-power of dubstep. His education at Big Apple is well reported, his era defining sets at the early FWD>> events are fabled and his current direction in straight-up dancefloor bombs is proving incendiary in the dance. Playing a ‘ground zero’ 2004 set, Hatcha will burn up the T Bar and leave the srebme spitting fire.
The 3 man party-starting team that is the Tomb Crew have spent the last couple of years building a huge fan base across the country as they rock the biggest bass raves from Newcastle to London, with huge sets at Bigger than Barry, Urban Nerds, My City is For Pimps, Dollop and their own block rockin’ Yo! Mama parties. Mixing up the freshest dubstep, bass and 4x4 with classic 2-step rhythms sees the crew smash up any dancefloor - gun fingers at the ready!
Founder of the original grime night Dirty Canvas, DJ Reecha has more than enough experience in blowing up clubs, and with his love of garage (his collection holds over 5,000 records), funky and bass mutations, you can be sure to receive a thorough education in the London underground.
Providing the foundations for our celebration of gunpowder, treason and plot will be none other than Dublime promoter and resident Downshifter, taking you through the finer points of dub-based dancefloor electronics, and our very own Hyponik DJ Squad, providing you with 130-140 bpm headnodders. BIG.
