Classic garage/2step snare

Post by alexrb » Fri Oct 16, 2009 7:21 pm

Hi people.

I've been trying to write some 2step tunes and I want to recreate those classic snappy garage snares. I assume they are snares that have been pitch shifted upwards but none of the snare samples I have pitch shifted sound like I want them to.

Obvious example of what I mean would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3laB3QhiZE

Any ideas etc would be gratefully received.

Alex.

Find a crispy snare, and adjust the envelope to shorten it. Maybe layer with a clap, who's also been adsr'ed to be quite short.

yeah essentially
. pitch a snare up
.use a really short envelope
.jsut use a rimshot if you cba
.or just use all three
.or you could ignore all of the above and do something totally different

also i havent heard that gorillaz track fer ageeessssss

You make 1-Step or 1/4 step?

0.5 + 0.5 = 1

0.5 x 2 = 0.25

Damn, all these genres confuse me.
