Electronic Explorations :: Point B exclusive

Post by stormfield » Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:47 am

An exclusive set from Point B is featured on this week's podcast by Rob Booth on his excellent Electronic Explorations series. 9 tracks of deep, steppy electronics giving a hint of what's to be unleashed during his Combat set at Plex on October 30th.

track list:
01. Guilty Pleasures
02. Mispent Youth
03. Braken – m – 6.16
04. Headland
05. Side Effects
06. Minerals
07. Istocity Meter
08 Bathed In Night
09. Weightless

Fans of his electronic peers such as Kelpe, Boards of Canada, Burial, Autechre and Tipper will find this potent brew infused with reflection and bittersweet calm. Maintaining his characteristic playful sense of melody and effortlessly flitting between genres, Suicide Beauty Spot is a brooding, contemplative and dark work of beauty and is Point B’s first full-length album on Combat Recordings.

"The rise of the dubstep scene gave me all sorts of ideas the more I started to understand it," he explains. "The dynamic between the slow, plodding half beat and the 140 bpm 2-step rhythm is really compelling. The use of modulated bass as a rhythmic and physical force is key too and was the perfect ingredient to the repertoire of electro / garage I'd started to build."
