Well I'd have to say, I'd rather you examine my tune before it needs mastering, and if it does then I would be more than willing to pay.

Enjoy the site, cheers.

so basically its all in the box? No hardware? No goodness? So what qualifications do you have to be mastering? Training? Knowledge? Or are you just going to boost the fuck out of it till its just a giant block, that sounds loud and fatigues the ears. (ie, most of whats coming out). Please tell me I have the wrong impression and maybe explain a bit how you are not going to do this?

With all these "mastering companies" popping up, i might as well open one.

Excuse my skepticism but, there is nothing on your site that would want me to send you my files. Infact, I will charge $10 dollars to master someones track. Just to give some friendly competition ahah.

If you are not in the box, and have gear (which you prolly would have listed on your site), I apologize in advance.

Well jeeze this was aimed at the newbies and folks who need help, not dub mongers who love to pick at others.

I wasn't aware that offering my fellow producers and DJ's something affordable was considered a threat. 20 bucks for some volume and punch sounds like a good deal to me. This is Quick Mastering...ya know like for demos and other tracks you're not gonna wanna pay hundreds of dollars for! Ooo boy, I think this recession has just made you boys a wee bit cranky!

I'm all in the box, but I've had several offers to do work for labels who produce dubplates... & for the price you really can't argue.

I will enjoy the competition. I'll just outsource my work to you under another name and get 10 bucks for nothing because my marketing is better, how's that? JK, but seriously, really? Wow, somehow I'm not really surprised at you.

Thanks for the kind words! :studio:

ahahaha ez man, i just wanted to know what your really offering as your website is vague.

I hope you do well, and your marketing, the best. You got me hook line and sinker.

I am glad you realize its just quick mastering and not the real deal, more power to you.

I would let your work speak for itself. Else you come off sounding a bit too sure of yourself. I am not hating on you brother, I am just encouraging you to maybe approach your awesome marketing strategy a bit different.

Had you set from the get go, this is for NEWBS, then I probably would not have inquired about your methods, but seeing as most of whats put out these days is over compressed, blocked out, and dynamicless I am weary when a new mastering enterprise enters the picture.

The only threat is to the quality of music coming out of some mastering houses. Hoping yours isn't one of them.

http://www.turnmeup.org/ peep that maybe get them to certify your mastering standards. We are in the middle of a loudness war, no need to contribute to the problem. Good luck to you man.

Sorry bro, no disrespect but Mastering is the application of golden ears and experience to a track, not VST mutliband compressors and excitors.

Maybe Mastering isn't the right word here?
In macc's little funny video he made the guy who wanted his tunes mastered talk about how his friend would make his tunes sound fat for 30 quid by using Wave's VST multiband compressor and the engineer describes what the service of the engineer actually is. I think that this is what we're talking about here. You're the guy with the waves multi-band compressor.

Value is great but remember you're offering EXPERIENCE.
If you're going to compete in the mastering market I think you need to do some more Marketing research or you'll just end up with old producers bitching at you about the philosophy and ethics of your service.

If I remember properlyyyy, he was going to charge him 12 pounds for 12 tracks, using his waves plugins that he torrented lol

I aint gonna have a dig, would like to know what your system actually is though, your website mentioned a few different tools but no specific brands,

The front page seems to have a pic of izotope ozone on it? is that what you are using to master tunes?

What is your room set up like? what is your monitoring system?

As mentioned before people pay for the ears not the equipment list, musical background? years engineering? years mastering?

This probably will be a good deal for people who want mastering on the cheap, would probably be good to include a little more info about yourself and what you have though,

peace

maybe something more useful would be if you provided an A/B of your work? Much better than listing equipment?

:u:

Im better off paying macc like £10 more and for him to use some amazing valve hardware compressors and eq's and his amazing wealth of knowledge.

Anyone can use izotope ozone to make a 'self master' but a proper ME (not saying your not, but i don't see your credentials) will really make the difference.

Just my opinion.

Go easy on the guy.

Innocent until proven guilty right?

As much as the 50000 "mastering engineers" posting on here are a pain for studios like mine with overheads and expensive boxes (ok one in my case), why dont you send a track and see what he can do.

Although I take issue with his "six stages", of which is taken directly from the Izotope Ozone 4 plug-in and quite of few of them I avoid like the plague in my workflow, and the "genre tuning" (what does this mean?!). That's jsut personal preference to me.

PS OP telling everyone your previous business failed isn't a great way to grab customers!

Joe @ Subseqent Mastering
Genre tuning is another izotope thing, you can select from the presets what genre it is e.g rock, pop, classical w/e and then it will bring up a generic mastering template for it.

I may be just cynical but that's what I'm reading from it.

Then again if this guy knows how to use izotope and has payed to get this bit of kit on his system then why stop him from giving people a rough "master" of demos, that is what he stated. I don't think he's trying to say that he isn't just gonna whack it through a preset on izotope, he's stated that fairly clearly.

You get what you pay for at the end of the day, I would be more pissed if I had sent him my track with him lying about all of his years of experience working for multiple high profile clients. But he isn't it's a low cost thing for people who just want a quick loud version of their track,

end of

raaaaaaaaas

seriously tho, i'm always skeptical of anything that comes forth with a bunch of jargon.

and being that working in said jargon is my stock and trade, i'm concerned about the seeming formula of it, as well as the prevalence of "multiband" anything.

now, with that said-- that's just a marketing strategy. Homeboy could very well do some good work; chances are anyone with the guts to hang their shingle will have something good to offer to a potential customer.

so yeah, some before/after clips'd be great.

Looks like his "Awesome marketing" did a real good job here and it also looks like he got called on exactly what he does... I don't see one person that fell for it.

Someone bookmark his site, i am sure it will come in handy for comedic value later on down the line.
