I heard they werent the best for the price, go to your local shop and ask the dudes in there, most should be pretty helpful. You cant beat hooking some up and trying them out.

ive got the rokit 6's and have been using them for about 3 years now. they sound decent, not amazing but good for the price. i notice that the high's can be a little harsh when listening at higher volumes for long periods of time. they dont give a great representation of the low end because they are smaller woofers. a sub would cure this problem though.

They're alright but their speakers are better :6:

I recommend NASA for rockets.

Ok, sorry

I picked mine up a few year's back when I saw a video of dillinja using them in his studio (yes i'm a old jungist). They've been working fine for me, seem to be nice and flat. I've never owned any other production speakers so I can't really compare them to other popular brands. A lot of producers in my town have them and love them to death. The low end only goes down to 53hz on most of them.

Mine are great. For the price, I don't think you can do any better...

See some cheap and nasty rockets in action : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du7PcYVbl_k

But seriously, just compare a few different monitors in the store with some well produced music that you know. KRK's should be pretty good, some time ago I also went to buy them but came back with (more expensive) genelecs just because i liked them better. So a lot is also personal preference.

They work for me. Have the 8s. But i do have to supplement with subwooofr. Dont get sixes, especially cause our music is low end based. You want to hear the lower stuff.

totally agree. ive learned to compensate when mixing but i used to mix my subs WAAYY too loud cuz i couldnt hear em. theres shit id buy before i get me a subwoofer (little phatty 8) ). but it certainly would help.

Never considered just using level meters to keep things in check?

^ yeah, really, you don't even need monitors, just watch a frequency analyzer.

Rokit 5's + krk sub do me nicely.

6s no sub do me fine
curious if people have em setup right and with like mopads who are bitching about bass response
they are ported for low end not extreme lows but enough to do bassy dance music in a small room minus a sub add on

edit: oh and the holiday color exclusive to gc this year is red casing on em, so like i said sale coming up again prolly on reg and backstock

x2

A sub would be nice but it'd be nice with any speakers - ive used them as the speakers for a house party before and people were really surprised at how good the sound that came out them was, if you want to be extra cool you can buy the special edition white ones which look fucking sick!

No mopads, did have them isolated, though. They fall off hard in the lows, E, F, G gone. I don't care what size room you're in, if they're not putting out the freq, it's not gonna resonate. If you write toons where the sub is a large component of your sound, and not just a push behind other sounds, u need to hear what is happening down there. I know the 5's didn't do it. Not for me at least. I could have spent my money more wisely, but I was making the gouda at the time.

Was going to get the foot switch so I could bypass, never got around to it, I just love the sub too much.

And fuck, if I could get the 8's on a holiday sale... fuck!
