it means that just because they can't see doesn't mean they can't dream.

Blind people who could see before have visual and auditory dreams, but blind people who were born blind only have auditory dreams unless they're deaf, then I can't imagine what they'd dream of, probably visuals they conjure in their head from feeling different textures?

They would have conscious thought - they would just be oblivious to the existence of anything outside of their mind. They probably would have no concept of anything seeing as language is often a prerequisite to understanding anything about the world especially when it comes to contemplating your own 'existence'
