what kind of wave shape produces the speaker buzzing...

Post by chraos » Tue Nov 10, 2009 10:52 am

i am trying to recreate that really buzzy bass sound that sounds like the speaker is buzzing or cracking...the perfect example of this is in ooah's "fine cut bodies remix"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGyJbMCfjRU

the sound starts at around around 0:45 seconds.....is this just as simple as a square and sawtooth wave? or is it some kind of spectral wave? thanks in advance to anyone that helps me out with this..p

I would put money on it being the Subtraktor in Reason.

You can make that sound with about 4 or 5 clicks of the mouse.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

U can do it with the 2 of the basic waveshapes + turning on the FM knob. Play with the FM knob for different FX. If you automate the FX knob and the Filter at the same time you can get some nice effects.

You can get some really good sounds from Subtraktor quite easily. Reason is still the easiest DAW for automation too.

A single square wave will get you buzzing. Add filtering, fx, etc or more oscillators with different waveforms for different sounds.
