My audio interface has got a jack stuck in the jack plug..

Post by last & least » Thu Nov 19, 2009 5:16 pm

I got an audio 2dj, just doing some tests on traktor mixing etc (Fuck off nowaysj :t:  ) i got one out put going to the headphones and one to my speakers.... Everything was going ok untill i finished my session.

Now on my head phones i had a 1/4 inch adapter over the top of my 1/8... the 1/4 was something i found in a box somewhere.... and it broke inside the fucking interface when i pulled it out...

The interface has a really solid mechanism for locking in the jack and i can't fucking get it out, used like tooth picks, forks, i even went out side to get a fucking twig!!!

has anyone had a problem similar to this and got it out?? I got a practice sesh coming up now with my dubstep live band.... and well i don't want to fucking stop everything(my internal sound card on my lappy is fooked too)....

Yeah cheers in advance...

Would a strong magnet work?

This same thing happened with a 1/4" cable and my old interface. Basically, you're going to have to open the thing up (send it back to NI if it is still under warranty, otherwise you WILL VOID your warranty). Once open there's probably at least a pair (most likely 3 sets) of metal clips that hold connectors in place. You're going to have pull each clip up with a screwdriver or something of the sort, individually and each time pushing the broken connector past/through the clip while holding the clip up. IT IS A BITCH OF A PROCESS. Be careful not to pull the clips too much, they will bend PERMANENTLY.

I'd get in touch with N.I. and see if they could sort it out for you.

i had a similar thing with my monitors and an 1/8in input lead, the pin snapped off inside and i even unscrewed the back and took it to bits and i couldnt get it out... i just bought a 1/4in input lead and i use that now. Obviously it varies with different manufacturers and products as to whether you could get it out or not. maybe try takin it to bits and seeing if you can get it out, just remember how you do it so you can put it back together haha

i know where you come from. had it two times with my mixer. used a screw to get it out the first time, with a size that just fits inside the tube of your plug. turned it by hand with a just a little pressure, and then pulled back. it worked. but second time i had to open the whole mixer.
