UK Hip Hop

Post by Arjun » Tue Nov 24, 2009 9:22 pm

So over the last few weeks I've really been getting into UK Hip Hop, there's something about it that I just love so much more than American Hip Hop (Don't get me wrong I'm not saying its bad)

Anyway I'm always looking for some new artists to check out, but I'm not really looking for Grime

Here's just a few of my favourite songs so far, would be cool to get some recommendation or just peoples thoughts on stuff ;)

Few vids there, atm I've loving all those plus Chester P, Doc Brown, Manage, Wordsmith, Phi Life Cypher, Skinnyman and Kyza.

So who's got reccomendations :P

The stuff he did with Amon Tobin on the 2 Fingers project was really good though and came out this year I think. I just think the crossover stuff he tries is usually a bit misjudged, never relevant enough for the charts and not adventurous enough to appeal to the fans he built up with those first two mixtapes (which at the time were some of the most refreshing things on the scene).

My one reccomendation above all others would be to pick up Slanguage by the Universal Soldiers if it's still about, up there with all the more commonly mentioned UK hip-hop albums.

Tipsy was brilliant though! And a few other beat-snatched tunes.

ive got some good away tracks done with Caramac aswell. 2 tracks with Lewis Parker and Lowkey on the other side.

"cheers" and "ina nme" they are called, worth tracking down IMO.
