minimal or just plain boring???

Post by skavoovie_blind9 » Fri Dec 08, 2006 1:52 pm

EZ started this beat the other day, but can't make up my mind what I'm gonna do with it. I was thinkin' if I leave it how it is and use variouse samples to get it interesting but would that sound minimul or just plain boring, feedback would be greatly appreciated

I like it. obviously not a rinse out skankathon anthem or anything, but it's proper brooding, tension building stuff. as something to play at the start of a set or after a big peak, it's pretty much perfect i reckon. top work.

Really? nice 1. Sometimes listen to stuff for so long I don't know weather my imagination is takin' over and making it sound good or it's a steamin' hot pot of shit.

It always best to keep in mind what you thought about it when you first started it. If you thought it was good then it probably still is. The problem, as you state, is when you've listened to it over and over. You are tempted to change it and add more elements. This can lead to an ever changing track that you never get round to finishing. If your not sure about it, leave it for a week and then listen to it with fresh ears. This usually works.

Yeah man know what your sayin'. You need to know when to say to youself, "ok that is a finished track". Made the mistake in the past of ending up with a track overloaded with samples and fidly bits that just isn't pleasn't or easy to listen to. Cheers for the advice anyways fella
