I'm not sure what trouble they've had recently, but I've never had any problems at the Black Swan... one of the friendliest venues in Bristol. It just happens to be in one of the more unfriendly neighbourhoods.

I'm sure they'll try find a nice bicycle shop or cafe to go in its place. Easton obviously needs less bassweight and more paninis.

Does it matter if it was classy? They used to host the best Dub/Reggae, Jungle, Dubstep and DnB raves in Bristol... they've got a massive garden out the back where you can chill out round the fire and they had Thatchers cider on tap.

I can't believe people are such pussies about clubbing. Going to a rave isn't supposed to be like going to an out of town cinema complex. Places like Matter can fuck off... long live Corsica Studios and The Black Swan.

That night was sick!! Really gunna miss this venue, the garden was one of the best places to chill and the vibes u get there are on another level, there aint any place in the world that could run on par with the black swan, a true haven for dubsteppers. R.I.P Black swan

This.

Apparently the results of the appeal will be given on the 29th. Hopefully the swans still running for NYE.

The swan IS the best venue in Bristol. It was the first rave I ever went to in the city, some psytrance thing which went on from friday night to sunday morning. Admittedly it's in a fairly dodgy place, and there was more drug users/dealers than I've ever seen concentrated in such a small place, but my god it was good. Incredible vibes, friendly people, chicken takeaway place just outside. Proper fucking grimey place too. Who the fuck needs carpets?
So is this place being closed indefinately until they get a new license or...?
I've got a couple of mates going to that mongrel breakcore/dubstep/dub/reggae ting on new years eve, was gonna meet them afterwards for the journey home :(

this x1000.

Sadly only got to experience the Black Swan once...

Here's hoping the appeal is successful.

Need more awesome nights and beer served by yardie princesses!

This is horrifically upsetting. The Black Swan had more admosphere and vibes than nearly any other venue I've been to. Where else can I go to see insane raggacore and dancehall and smoke an insane amount of rollies in a garden next to a motorway flypass full of car tyres and broken lawn mowers?!

RIP Black Swan, hope you are resurrected soon!

Do they have that big psychedelic teepee outside all the time? I've only ever been there for ninja hippies psytrance events over the years and it was always there. It was the best thing in the world, next to the massive bonfire that was always raging.

Psytrance - surely not!!?? Reckon the teepee musta been for those nights only. Only ever seen oil drum fires, car tyres, NOS stalls and MDMA casualties around when I've been there. Oh, how I'll miss it. Especially the upstairs room that you can only get to by climbing up a 'staircase' made out of scaffolding.
